- avatar42 replies to nicciThis is all getting quite out of hand. I had not even had a spoofed caller ID call that I know of before a few months ago. I have already had 2 this morning and it is barely 10 am. One was this number. You cannot permanently block them because they just keep changing the number they claim to be calling from. It is time to stop complaining on these boards and start screaming at your representatives to shut down companies offering spoofing services and make the phone companies block the signal that overrides the true caller ID. Those that want to block their ID fine (though currently that is illegal for solicitors to do), those calls go directly to my voice mail but this spoofing has to stop NOW or your phone will be as bad as your email WITHOUT spam filters. I have a friend who's voice mail has been filed everyday with people calling to complain about calls they received claiming to be from her number. This has been going on for close to a year now for her and the only option she has is to change her number. The phone company will do nothing else to help. As you can imagine she does not want to have to track down and notify everyone that might need to call her and give them a new number. Especially clients. And if something is not done soon a new number will not help much. I am currently looking for work but I am having to screen calls and am blocking numbers left and right. I have almost used up the 40 blocks my phone company allows already in less than 3 months and they are pulling the service later this year unless I buy their internet service which is not available in my area. From what I can see most of the other phone providers do not even offer blocking. Can you imagine if your email provider did not have spam filters? If you do not have call blocking about all I can suggest is not answering any of the following caller IDs:
TOLL FREE CALL
SALES DEPT
PRIVATE SUITE
Unavailable/Anonymous/ blank
and any number from the 954 area code ( not sure why but seems to be a fav for scammers)
That will filter at least 50% of these calls. Personally I only answer calls now from my area code or numbers I recognize. I am sure it is only a matter of time though till they start spoofing numbers local to where they are calling.
Also any legit company is NOT going to hide behind another number so you SHOULD assume they are a scam if they are doing so. From what I have been reading many of them are ID theft scams. Before calling anyone back, you do not know, Google the number. Odds are you will many complains about that number. If not then and ONLY then call them back. If we have learned anything from spam you NEVER contact them to ask them to not do it again. That just confirms you got the message they sent and increases the value of your info to them and who they will sell it to next. Again personally I have a rule that I will not buy anything from a company that cold calls me. Especially since I am on the do-not-call list.
Now go look up your congressmen and senators and start screaming about how the do-not-call list has been made useless by spoofing! - AmberI received a call form this number. I google all 800 type numbers I receive before answering. I saw the note about HealthMarket.com. I called the number back and spoke to a very nice man. They apparently have caller ID themselves because I told him I was just returning a call, he knew exactly who I was.
I had about a week ago requested a quote for health insurance and they are simply following up to ensure an agent has contacted me. He simply updated my file.
Very nice people to work with so far..........they are NOT TELEMARKETERS.- Caller: HealthMarkets.com

- Fed Up replies to anoying hang up callsDonotcall.gov does not stop these calls. They did however prosecute one of the pains in the... who plagued my last phone number. Now I have a new pain in the... who also plagued my last phone number. This "800 Service" jerk!!!
- Fed Up replies to kdub| 1 replyAnd what type of scam are you running? This is a healthnet deal DO NOT VISIT THE SITE IN THE LINK THIS IDIOT GAVE! DO NOT GIVE YOUR INFO IF YOU DO! Thousands of insurance agents will call you and e-mail you if you do. (No, I didn't do it, but I know someone who did.)
- Fed UpI have been on the do not call list for ages. This number palgued my last phone number, and my current phone number. Just keep reporting them on donotcall.gov, and they will do something about it eventually. "800 Service" calls me from all different numbers, but now this number is calling me daily. I even have my old Telezapper on my line. I wish them DEATH! And not the relief kind of death. The rot in hell kind of death.

- let1422| 1 replyReceived call today from this number. I typically don't have a problem answering a number I don't recognize. So, I answered the call and was transfered to a live Health Markets agent. He is not a telemarketer. He is a licensed agent. Quite honestly, I did not remember right away that I requested health insurance info until I started speaking with the agent. As it turns out, he had some really great plans and I decided to schedule an appointment with him to reveiw my options.

- telemarketers-r-scum replies to let1422Yeah I must've requested health insurance lots of times but I'll be damned if I can remember either LOL.
What a transparent attempt to run your filthy scam on this board! But surfing time's over it's back to the boiler room with you so you can pretend to be an "AGENT" instead of the filthy telemarketer you really are LOL. I'll be sure to review my options when you call, if you hear a loud whistel in your ear you'll know what your options are scumbag. - Brad replies to nicciThey are calling my home phone and I haven't provided anyone with that number for any sort of insurance. I only give my home phone to family and friends. Any sort of business call I use my cell. I am also on the federal and state do not call lists and am receiving the calls.
- Brad replies to nicciYou work for them don't you? Stop harassing people and get an honest job.
I have never visited the site healthmarkets.com looking for anything. Don't tell me to get over it. I did not give them my number. I don't even answer it because I don't know who it is. All the caller ID says is '800 Service.' - contact MEEE replies to Fed UpI been there a lot of times I enter other telescammers numbers on the form.
scammers calling scammers! - calendarlady(866) 935-1328 keeps calling my work number - I realize who it is - it's a health marketing firm. I inquired online about health insurance for an uninsured member of my family. Within minutes of submitting the inquiry I got a phone call. I talked to a very nice man and told him i would think about it. They have called 2 or 3 times since then but I don't answer because i'm still "thinking" about it - with something as serious as health insurance I will probably talk to someone in person, altho I did get an idea of how much it would cost monthly, which is what I wanted. I don't see what all the fuss is about tho with people getting so annoyed. Just don't answer it - or answer it - tell them not to call and move on.
- TraceyI too called them back and got a nice man who put me on their Do Not Call list. Hopefully the calls will stop

- ButtmunchI have a suggestion. Stop picking up the phone when they call!!!!
- ValdostaGalA lot good this "do not call" registry is doing when I still get unwanted calls from toll-free numbers
- Andy replies to JaydeSomeone named Ashley apparently filled out a request for health insurance info and mistyped their phone number. I called the 866 number back, and a very courteous young lady apologized and took my number off the list. I don't think they are any kind of phishing scam, they are just EXTREMELY persistent telemarketers. I will come back here and update if the calls continue.

720-810-3803 - JoshDon't know the number.
- drj replies to kdubThank you so much. I used it. I hope they will not then give my number out to everyone. Good thing is you don't have to fill in any more contact info than the phone number and email.
- BarbiKeep getting calls from these people. The problem isn't that they call...it's that they are so persistant and call 2 - 3 times a day and when you answer, they hang up (we answered once). Everyone says "don't answer the phone", "report them", etc. The point is getting lost here. It's the fact that they don't seem to respect your request to stop calling, and they call so many times. We've gotten over 6 calls from them in a week. I have a simple three word request for these people ..... please stop calling.
P.S. Please see the note at the bottom of this "form" to please watch your language when posting.- Caller: "800 Service"
