Hung up when we didn't answer, but I suspect political phone calls because we've been getting so many of those lately

I got the call about 30 minutes ago. I too tried to call them back and got the same result as Gary. I do not see why that points to it being a debt collector though. If anything, would not a debt collector be happy if you called back and answer immediately?

Either way, I do not know of any debts I am under. I pay my bills on time and in full. If I was in trouble I am pretty sure I would have received some kind of correspondence like "overdue payment" by the company in question by now before it was handed off to a debt collector. So, I am ruling out debt collector here.

I just got called again. I am the guy from the post above. I answered it this time. It's a Republican Party survey and not a debt collector.
