It's an offshoot of the old "Nicholls and Grant" scam.  They make themselves sound like an attorney firm or court processor to get you to call them back.  They will start out threatening you with small tidbits of information and then after a few calls they say they are coming to your work place or your front door to serve you.   They don't and they have no jurisdiction over anything.   They want your bank account numbers and will say you are being sued or the court has issued a warrant.   Just ignore them.  Usually they call from a restricted number.   They have no bite but they sure bark loud.

    hmm...
Called and left a message saying I had a civil complaint against me and I needed to call back asap. So I call. She tells me it's something from like 10 years ago, says I have an hour to decide to go for the settlement....or they were going to serve me on Monday with a summons to go to court. She asked for my visa # (as if I'm that dumb) Google the number and bam. Not the only person that has encountered the same problem. So, not doing anything with it. They can call and harass, I won't answer. They'll get the hint... it's really pathetic people try to steal money from the honest hard working citizens of this country.... I am a firm believer in karma! Good luck people!

    Taking Action
I have had it, these crooks are calling anyone that may possibly know me and leaving threating personal messages on their answering machines about a legal case against me.  They called a couple of weeks ago and said I had 24 hours to respond and then a week later stating the 24 hours again.  They mention old addresses and confusion regarding them???  Clearly this is illegal as the FDCP states that they may only reveal the details tp the party they are seeking, it is ILLEGAL to state anything more than its a personal matter to anyone else.  The good thing is that these messages can be used as proof to report and sue THEM for illegal tactics.  I intend to do just that, reported to local authorities, states attorney;s office, FTC and the local media which will run a story on this matter.  So thank you scammers for providing me the required proof to come after YOU!      So far its possible its JC Christianson and Assoc or TRS & ASSOCIATES, either way get ready scammers.

A man claiming his name was Shawn Ellis left a message claiming to be from Document Delivery services. He said a complaint had been filed against me and forwarded to his office. He rattled off some old address's and left a reference #. Claimed it was time sensitive and that i had 24 hrs to comply and then he proceeded to wish me luck!!

IF you were to be served, you would NOT be notified in advance,  The server would just show up.

I received a call on my home phone, and then cell phone.  The woman said she was Amy Dalusko, with Nationwide Documents and that her company has questions for me based on a suit in regard to my name and address.

First off this person asked for me by both by my current name and maiden name, which I haven't used for almost 20 years, along with the fact that I am not only new to the state and address that she read off to me, but I am a renter and always pay my rent early.  If there was any issue with me or a complaint of me connected to my address, my landlord would have been in touch with me, and certainly wouldn't be guessing about if I went by my current or "old" name.  I was given 24 hours to respond or action would be taken, given a reference number, etc., and at the end of the voicemail, a "good luck", as if I will need it!

I have never had a payday loan, or online loan, etc. and I have no outstanding bills, no trouble with the law, etc.  As much as I know this is a scam and will not return the call, it does make you wonder about how they select whom they will try to get money from, or if they themselves are simply trying to steal your identity to create an issue that could lead to some sort of lawsuit.

Just thought I would add my experience on here, as I am 100% positive that I have nothing "pending" against me at this address or otherwise, and haven't heard someone use my maiden name for almost 20 years, something definitely fishy about these people and whatever they are trying to pull.  I'm guessing that they have switched their verbiage from payday loan collector, to "pending issue at your address" because of so many people catching on to the first load of nonsense.
