same as above - no message, keeps calling.

i signed up for world vision about a month ago. Guess that makes sense...

Jan 7-09 Received call and hang up.
Also received a call from 888-511-6561 on 01-09-09. Both World Vision and no message.
Not impressed and I'm going to look at Compassion International since I've heard a bigger % actually gets to the children and less to Admin. More accountability.
Sad WV has to pull such stupid stuff ... It's like divorce. The Kids are he ones to suffer because people giving from their hearts don't need or want to be harassed.

Same here signed up for worldvision a month or so ago at a concert, and have been getting calls from this # 1-2 times daily. They leave no message. Really Annoying.

I started sponsoring a child through World Vision about a month ago too.  Got a hang up on my machine from 866-947-5840 today.  They're already getting my money.  What could they want now?

Hey, I answered the call from this number this time. It was simply a courtesy call making sure I got the packet with the DVD and more pictures of my sponsored child. She also was telling me I'll get 4-6 cards/year that I can sign to send to him for his birthday and holidays, etc. She said I'd get a yearly progress report and an updated photo. She said I could expect my first letter from my child in 4 months. She wanted to know if I had any questions. So it's a valid call, I do wish that they would leave a voicemail so we at least know who's trying to get a hold of us.

I've gotten this call daily for the past three days, but didn't answer the first two times. I answered today, and no one was there, just silence and a hangup, which prompted me to start Googling to find out who it is. I signed on to donate to World Vision last month, so this makes sense...but why not identify yourself? Annoying...will this continue? Yikes.

I called this number back and was able to speak with a friendly representative from World Vision. I do wish that they had identified themselves in a voicemail when they had called previously, but it was no problem.

I signed up to sponsor a child, not to solicit annoying phone calls.  Please stop contacting me.

Same here. I started sponsoring children via World Vision about 2 months ago. I received a call from this number just once. No voicemail. After reviewing earlier posts, I figured it must be World Visioin.

They should leave a voicemail.

Same thing...World Vision.  It's such an awesome program...I just wish they would leave a courtesy voicemail so I don't assume it's a telemarketer!

I can echo the others who picked up the call and yet got no response, just a hang-up. I too signed up for World Vision about a month ago. I too wonder why they would make a call but not identify themselves.

While I agree that it would be nice for them to identify themselves, now that I know who the caller is...  I will assume the positive... that it is a courtesy call, rather than an annoyance.

I started sponsoring a child a month or two ago and these phone calls just started a week ago. They call me about 2 times a day with no voice mail. I haven't picked up because I didn't realize it was them until now. They could at least leave a quick message saying who they are and that it's just a courtesy call. I typically don't answer calls I don't recognize, and I sure as heck don't call back if a message isn't left for me. If you can't take the time to identify yourself, I don't have the time to call you back. That being said, I just got a card to fill out and send to my child from WV, and I can't wait to start getting pictures.
