Caller ID record of 9/9/15 shows that TOLL FREE CALLE also called from 800-435-4000. Handling telemarketers and robocalls on the landline is easy: All phone ringers off. Answering machine on mute. Telemarketers and robocalls
do not leave a message. If the caller is someone you want to hear from, they will leave a message.
It is counterproductive to get frustrated or angry at nuisance callers. Better to have some fun with it. Once in a while
I turn the ringer on, answer what I know is a sales call, and have fun getting them to hang up on me.
If a human is making the sales call, remember that telemarketers have many other calls to make, and you are only
one of many. Waste as much of their time as possible.
   One old, tried and effective method is, (Talk fast), "Yes, he's here, Lemme-go-get-him, hold on..." Then lay the phone
aside, leave it off the hook, and continue whatever you were doing before the call.
   A former GF had a unique way of getting telemarketers to hang up on her. She would start asking them questions...
'Do you enjoy your job?'  'How long have you been doing that?'  'Are you happy with the pay?' etc. Then she would
switch it up on them... 'Actually, you sound pretty good. I could use an employee like you...'
Then she'd try to get them to sign up with Amway! I don't remember how she used to phrase that last part,
but it was pretty funny (to me, anyway). The telemarketers always hung up first.

At least once a day I get a call that says toll free calle on my caller id. I pick up but no answer.
