- Andi & Her Dog BonesHmmmm...have to wonder about this. I don't know why the Ohio Attorney General would call my business number (that I got 3 months ago), when I just started this business 3 months ago, and haven't made even the minimum amount of money I would have to to file taxes in Ohio (it's $600.00). I smell a carp! Gonna block it and take my chances.

- patRecieved a call from this number. When I answered, he asked for a person I don't even know. I told him that he had the wrong number, and he got mad, saying"so now I have the wrong number?! What did he do, change his number all of the sudden!? I have a relative that works for the AG. If this person calls again, Im reporting it
- Angel50Got a call from this number on my cell phone, did not answer, did not know the number. Not 30 seconds later got a call on my desk phone at work. It was a Corry from the Revenue Group asking if I was aware of past due taxes. Ask if I still had a P O BOX ?????. I stated I have never had a P O BOX and he that stated they must have the wrong person and would remove my number from their list.

- Mary| 1 replyI had 22 recent calls on my caller ID from this number. Today I answered. Doug asked for someone who has been dead for 18 years. He said send a copy of death certificate. Yea like I am going to do that. Definitely a scam. He said he is from the revenue group in Cleveland.
- Caller: Revenue Group/Cleveland
- Alfalfa replies to MaryIf you're being hassled by a debt collector over the debt of a deceased family member, I want you to record the calls and then take those tapes to state or local authorities or to the media. The one thing that still works is shame, particularly when the collector is with a giant monster mega-bank.
In most cases, you have no legal obligation to assume the debt of a late spouse, sibling, or parent. But the collectors will never tell you that.
The only states where there is a possibility that a surviving spouse may have some responsibility for a debt are "community property states" -- Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.
In such states, an executor/executrix or administrator (in the event there is no will) may be responsible for assessing the estate to see if there's money to pay out to creditors.
But in general, if you get a call from these slimeballs at a time when you're grieving like the Raybould family, know that you likely don't owe them a penny.

There's got to be a way to stop these guys?!? I'm definately taking the letter to the post office and I'll send this to the real attorney general.

- Jenna| 5 repliesYou guys are idiots. The Ohio Attorney General DOES use Revenue Group to collect back taxes. If you fail to file in ohio the dept of tax will ESTIMATE your liability and it's always WAY higher than what you actually owe. Soo go ahead waste your time contacting the Attorney General because guess what number they're going to give you to call? That's right.. Revenue Recovery's number.
- Caller: Revenue Recovery
- Call type: Debt collector
- Enewbold replies to JennaSuch [***]! You must work for the scammer. Ohio Tax Dept will always contact you by mail FIRST; not by phone. Ignore these [***]!
