This was Sallie Mae trying to get me to sign up for a student laon

Same here. Unsolicited call from Sallie Mae to ask me to sign up for a student loan.

Just got called today by this number today and this guy was asking me about a loan even though my school is handling the loan with Sallie Mae instead of me. He was extremely unprofessional sounding and even though I explained to him that my school is dealing with Sallie Mae Financial for me, he tried to get me to tell him my information to confirm my identity even though he called me. Maybe this is normal, but when I asked him "how do I know this is even Sallie Mae?" he laughed at me and said "well how can I prove that?" I hung up on him. He literally laughed at me. This number is more than likely a scammer for identity theft or something of the sort. Be careful with the information you give to the caller.

I keep getting this call at least four times a day. I have a Salli Mae loan too, but still. It is very unprofessional.

do u thinks is sallie mae because i also received that phone call today but they said something different that what i check on the web site, actually if i call to a sallie mae number always start the automatic system saying the differents options and also said differents work hour but if i call back to the 8669717882 it dont even said "youre calling to sallie mae..." and the work hours are different !!!

I just got this phone call this morning too. And I was put on hold right as it called. Now that pisses me off. And I just got loans from Sallie Mae too, so I'm sure that's who it was if everyone else is getting the same thing.

I got this call today. I missed the call and called back and a woman answered yelling "Hello? Are you there?" I said "You called me earlier so I was calling back" and she put me on hold. Then she tried getting my information claiming she was Sallie Mae. I refused to give her my number then hung up. I called the Sallie Mae number I have and asked for an operator. I asked if they had tried calling me and they said their records said they didn't try calling me today.

DO NOT GIVE THIS NUMBER YOUR INFORMATION!

I think this is a scam.  They asked for the last 4 digits of my SS# and I gave it, since I did just apply for a Sallie Mae loan.

As the call progressed, I noticed the woman was unprofessional and seemed unsure of her "script".
I got off the phone quickly after she insisted that I tell her the time I could sign the loan today.  If she calls back she's getting an earful, because I called Sallie Mae and they have no record of a representative calling me.

I HATE scammers.

I got this phone call at 9 am right as i was doing my online classes. I too am in school and recently denied my sallie mae claim,now i get these calls 2 to 3 times a day. sometimes even during work or class!

I just got a call from this number as well, the guy who called wanted me to verify my information as well, which i did not. I told him that my application was denied and I hung upon him.

incessant calling from this number. sallie mae mainly does business online & does not need to request ssn info etc that they already have for an applicant or loan holder.

I got a call from this number twice today and I just applied for a student loan with Sallie Mae Financial and was denied too!! When I called the number back it doesn't even say what company you are calling so I had to google the number!! A Mess!!! When they call tomorrow I WILL let them have it!! That will be their last time calling this number!!!

I was calling all the 800,866,and 877 numbers back today and the only numbers that when I called back said "your call is being transferred". But I hung up, The numbers where 877-700-4035 and 866-971-7882. I dont know if these are scammers or sallie mae b/c I recently tried to get another loan and they always want me to sign it but I got a grant for school. So I didn't need it. PLUS we have had a lot of scammers trying to call the house number. Its annoying because the house number is on the national do not call list!

1)   don't talk to anyone on unknown phone numbers 2)  if caller is rude or pushy just say "hang on a minute", put the phone down, and later, hang up when you the dial tone.   TIME is the most valuable asset to sales folks so the longer you keep them on line the more likely you will be removed from the call list.   It works for me !!

Here I go with another round of Unknown Callers.  I seem to get a lot of these, so I've resorted to turning my ringer off.  A legitimate caller will leave a message, and the Caller ID tells me if it's someone I want to talk to.  Sometimes I even hang up on them, but now I just turned the ringer off.  Less annoying that way.

I neither have nor want a Sallie Mae loan, and if it's a scam, all the more reason not to talk to them.  So far, I just got one hang up call from them around 8pm.  I'm sure I'll get many more.

I never answer the phone unless I want to talk to the caller.

This number has been calling our business regularly, refuses to leave messages and all the usual stuff.  If they were legit they would leave a message.  Clearly some type of telemarketer, scam, or similar.

I get this call all the time as well and I dont have any loans period.. Iam 55 and dont want any eaither. Its a scam
