Got the same message, they're getting smarter by using a toll free number, if anyone owes money to the IRS, they get contacted via mail from the IRS with formal IRS letter head.

Got 2 messages from them today.  Same thing.  IRS to collect a debt and putting a hold on our accounts.  Really?  I'm pretty sure the IRS owes us money!!  I just feel bad for people like my mother who is 75 years old and might believe them.

I received two calls also saying they were from the IRS and putting a lean on our bank, etc... I called the BBB and they said the IRS would not do this over the phone, that they would send out a letter. It is a scam. (these people need to get a life and work for a living instead of scamming the working class that does!)

I got the call too.  Said there is criminal law suit pending and that he will explain everything if and only if I do not interrupt while he is talking.  I asked where he was calling me from location...he said Washington, DC gave the address in DC then proceeded to give me a zip code of 90004 (California).  When I questioned, he said "fine the authorities are on the way to arrest you, they will be there within 30 minutes".  So I'll update you all as soon as they give me internet access from jail....LOL.

This message came on my parents line. This number came up with a message from the IRS stating that legal proceedings are being initiated for not paying our debts. A lien will be placed on property and bank accounts and a IRS collection agent will be meeting at our home in 24 hours. Like many of the people above, the IRS doesn't do automated phone calls with generic robot voices saying "your name" vs your actual name. They send you letters and notices with your name and specifically what instructions you have to do by mail. This seems like a terrible scam and completely bogus.

I received the same voice mail message.  I called and received the same responses as other callers.  I'm being sued by the IRS, the officers came to my house twice and I wasn't there so they will be there now within 30 minutes to arrest me etc.  I just don't get what they are after.  The man did not speak English very well and identified himself as Officer William.  He had my name and address but didn't try to get me to pay the "supposed amount due".  When he said they would be there to pick me up  I told him that was fine but they would need to come get me at my work and I work at the Courthouse.  He hung up on me at that point.

Had three voicemails today threatening to seize assets, etc.  Aside from the fact that irs.gov warns about this, the message itself is a dead giveaway, being disjointed and using the term "your name" instead of an actual name!  The IRS does not contact taxpayers by phone or email to collect debt or verify personal information!!!!   Go to www.irs.gov for a list of the top scams.

Yes, the IRS has warned me I am about to be served for failing to complete my financial responsibility to the nation.  As I do not work now, being disabled, and file with my husband, I am unsure where I might have accumulated such a finacial obligation.  The real kicker was when it said, "This call is for  (Your Name)" and the last time I checked into this - that was not my name so I am pretty sure this is one of the worst scams I have ever had contact with.  They are a little early, April 1st is still over a month away...

Called my landline, claimed to be IRS and stated they were going to seize all my bank accounts within 24 hrs. due to my lack of response to settle with them. FYI, I have no unpaid debt to the IRS.
