they said they are from IRS indian voice

left msg on my answering machine--Officer Adam Beer (India Voice) from the IRS left this number with a threatening msg if he did not hear back form me!!  Not sure who else to report this to?

Checked my home answering machine remotely just now - caller claiming to be 'Caleb Lynch' with a very heavy Indian accent, left a vaguely threatening message - returned the call, claimed I was being audited by the IRS for $78,000, but if I could pay $7,860 today, it would be 'settled out of court'...of course, this being Friday after 5, that's impossible...heard an echo on the line, sounded like a 'boilerplate' room, lots of background noise of other people on other phones -claimed the call was being recorded - further requests for actual physical documentation were met with claims that 'the sherriff's office will arrive with a subpoena, then take you into custody" , which is odd, since I got a refund of $23 from the IRS this year

I also received the same phone call from Caleb Lynch, claiming that "I have already been audited by the IRS and that I owe them $5,000." I called the IRS directly and they said that they are not in the process of auditing me nor have I been audited.

Said their calling from Dominion Power and said my electric was going to be shut off within the hour unless I made payment.  I asked them to confirm my account # and thats when they hung up. I called the # back and it was a voicemail.

I received a message from an officer caleb lynch from 8667986981. He had an Indian accent.  He left a very threatening message telling me that if me or my lawyer didn't call him back that this situation would be on me.

I just received a call from an officer "Caleb Lynch" that was trying their best southern accent which was clearly a cover up for an indian accent. Anyway, the message they left was somewhere along the lines of an IRS audit/law suit thing.

The # was 202-618-9475 which is a Washington D.C. number. However, this is clearly [***] as I know for a fact I am up to date on all my taxes with nothing to hide.

Just throwing some more info out to anyone who receives a BS call like this.

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

Same routine. Was clearly a pre-recorded message giving me a number to call back. The number he used was (202) 241-6190 DC, USA
