received email about a charge to my PAYPAL account--no such purchase and my paypal was closed a few months ago.  To dispute the charge call this number.  They wanted me to get a google card (owner of paypal) and then do a fake transaction with them over the phone to find out the culprit.  No other way to resolve.   Research of PayPal says this is a SCAM.

It is a scam. Thought I was calling Arlo Technical Support to make a warranty claim. Long story short they talked me into buying a $100 Xbox gift card on Amazon and convinced me I "would be refunded for it, all they needed was the digital code on it."

I'm dumb. And now out $100.

Almost same story as chase, i contacted arlo day before and today got a call from that same exact number 866-979-4993 and said they are returning my call because i had contacted arlo, long story short walked me through few steps had me download a phone screen sharing app walked me through few more steps with my camera equipment the. Said my cameras are out dated and need new firm wear to go to my amazon account and buy a xbox gift card and that amazon will reimburse the $100, i did think it was strange i said why amazon she said because Arlo is owned by Amazon.

Received an email that said a charge of $757.36 has been debited from your Pay-Pal account to Black Cactus Armory, and that I should call 1 866-979-4993 if I had any issues with this payment. I did not call them, I do not have a Paypal account and I never heard of Black Cactus Armory. Instead, I called my bank and notified them. It is a scam.

Received an email from Blackbeard Armory  with an individual's name at gmail.com followed by the PayPal logo on a letterhead stating that a payment of $762.38 had been sent to Blackbeard Armory. I never heard of Blackbeard Armory and certainly never ordered anything from them.  It all looked very authentic.  Here is a copy of the some of the contents of their communication:

Thank you for choosing paypal. This payment will appear onto your Pay-Pal account within a few moments as *Blackbeard Armory* under Activity List.

Please contact Pay-Pal Customer Service if you wish to cancel this payment. You can directly reach them at +1 (866) 979-4993 (Toll Free).

I looked up PayPal's Customer Service number which is 1 (888) 221-1161.  I called them to report the unauthorized charge.   After checking my account they told me there was no such charge and that this was a phishing email and to just delete it.   Long story short - It's a scam.

I received the same email to my work email.  My amount was different...$770.69.  It's a scam...these people are relentless.
