They called my elderly mother's house. She never answers the phone unless she knows the caller.  She said they left a message saying they had a prize entry for her, but she can't remember the rest of it, accidentally deleted the message, and wanted me to check it out. I did a search on the number from her caller ID which showed Group Mitchell (773)288-8091, and it is the same company as stated above.  It is Mitchell's Communications Group in Chicago, IL. Owner is Tony Mitchell.  They are listed on the Better Busines Bureau website in the category of "Sweepstakes, Travel Agencies and Bureaus".  According to the BBB website:
BBB Rating for Mitchell's Communications Group
Based on BBB files, Mitchell's Communications Group has a BBB Rating of F on a scale from A+ to F.
    Reasons for this rating include:
BBB concerns with the industry in which this business operates.
BBB does not have sufficient information to determine how long this business has been operating.
BBB does not have sufficient background information on this business.

The BBB lists two numbers for them.  The local Chicago number shown, (773) 684-9471, has been disconnected.  However, if you call the toll free number listed there, (866) 601-8851 ext. 1001, you get Tony Mitchell's voicemail. We suspect that my mom's call was tied to a car dealer promotion in our area - you know, where you get a flyer in the mail with a key in it and says you are definitely a winner and to bring your flyer in to see what you've won... She insisted that we go.  We tried to tell her it would be a waste of time - but we humored her, and it was just as we thought.  The prize, of course, was not a car, but a $1,000 or so shopping spree in their "exclusive" catalog - for which you had to pay money if you wanted a printed copy.  I looked online and they had only a handful of cheap things that you wouldn't even want - but if you did, you would have to pay hefty shipping costs.  It might not be tied to the Mitchell Group, but that was absolutely the only contest or anything like it that my mother's name could have been tied to. Needless to say - we won't be calling them back.

But of course you are a scam. You shouldn't be calling people under false pretense. What makes you any different from any other telemarketer that are prohibited from calling people that are on the donotcall register. I for one didn't register for any prizes and you don't have any to give away. You are a fraud. You are cold calling people. You better hope that these companies that you are referring to bail you out when the law catch up to you. I don't worry about buying anything or going anywhere at the suggestion of some telemarketer that solicit me with cold calls. I do know that it is against the law for you to be calling people pretending that they register for something.

I received a message today on my answering maching from a guy stating that he was from Mitchells Communication and he has been trying to reach me because someone has submitted my name to win a new vehicle.  I searched the number using my caller ID and it came back to a woman in IL.  The number is 708-898-2613.

I received a message tonight from Mitchell Communications to claim my prize from 877-279-3457 ext. 243. When I called back they said I had a choice of a Ford Expedition worth 25k or 2 round trip tickets. When I asked how I was entered in for these prizes, he said either online or in a store sweepstakes. I said it sounded like a scam, but the guy asked what would I have to lose, and it wasn't a scam. I would only pay the taxes on my gift. That they had 12 prizes for 12 couples, and one gift would be chosen at random. I said it sounded fishy and declined.

I was asked tho leave an comment do to participating and recieving what I was promised. I too researched the web and saw the comments. I called back and asked why I was prompted to there web site which address all my concerns. But most importantly if the person never went to claim the gift how would he/she know it is not true. I recieved a 32 inch flat screen. I recieved it about 4 days ago. Before I went I was emailed a confirmation letter which explained everything and it everything happen to the t of the letter. God bless who ever is reading this. Make your own decision not from someone who is assuming.

    same experience
Just call this same call today from a woman from Mitchell Communications. The caller even said on the phone that she was aware my number was on the "do not call list," but she was not a telemarketer and I was one of the winners of a top prize - a car - and I had to call back immediately because it was time sensitive. It was for a contest I entered "12-18 months ago." Needless to say I wasn't planning on calling back, but sounds like the exact script that other callers received. Glad I found this board.

If your company is such a wonderful legit place then why dont they call and talk to people about their services they don't. I recieved a call stating I won a car from dave. We both know that isn't true. Which means your company are liars sorry if that hurts your feelings then maybe you should work for an honest company. honest companys dont tell hard working people they won stuff that they didn't.

I had the same call but from Christopher and the # was 1-866-312-9553 ext. 109. This was the 3rd attempt to call me leaving the same message. I called the # back to see what the company name was Vandale Communications and if I dialed the extention a woman leaves a message , not Christopher. I did not leave a message. I called back and got the Vandale message, I did not dial the extention so it started to ring again and then a message came on and said This is the Mitchell Communicatons Group. Again did not leave a message. To many red flags but had to call yell at someone and no one even answered.

I got the same message as above verbatim, Christopher and the # was 1-866-312-9553 ext. 109. I'm tempted to buy my own autodialer and enter all the numbers on this website and call them in an attempt to sell my own artwork or gigs for my dad's band repeatedly. The way they entered for this privilege is by calling my number, (they did not realize they were entering when they did this!)
The only way they could have got my home phone # is from my job applications (dirty trick!); for all other forms and unofficial junk I always give out my cell number (which is never turned on). Home # is on Do Not Call.
Thanks to all who reported on this site and others, and here's to an end of Spammers and Scammers!
