Received a letter about an IRS review.

Received a letter in the mail to verify my tax return to call agent Phil Rampey at 870-333-9010. Called the IRS and I was informed to disregard. Its a scam

I was very suspicious of the letter. Tried to call the IRS but couldn't get through to anyone.

Received a letter from Phil Rampey wanting to discuss my tax return.  The grammatical errors in the letter was a clear indication that this was fraudulent.

Received a letter from IRS, Phil Rampey, that I had to call by specific date to review my 2021 tax return or he wanted to meet with me in a city 4 hours from where I live. Gave an IRS Revenue Agent employee I.D. number for Mr. Rampey and the 870-333-9010 phone number in the event I wanted to discuss by phone. The envelope it arrived in was an IRS envelope postmarked from Memphis TN and 57 cents postage, which immediately raised a red flag since the IRS doesn't ever put postage on their letters!  Had no IRS case number (typically 9 digits) or other IRS notice number or identifying numbers, rather only a file number just above my name that consisted of a letter and 3 digits.  Was obviously fake. Also tried to call the IRS but couldn't get through to anyone.
