Got a call just now saying I won $485,000 & a new Mercedes for the HGTV Urban Oasis.  Told me to go to Walmart & Purchase a Green Dot Card & put $200 on it & then call him back with the Card Number before they would come out to my house with the Prize.  I thought the whole thing was a joke from the beginning because he was a Foreigner I could barely understand & I just hung up. Number is 876-435-2825 & the name of Bobby Womack.... I asked if it was a joke & he said noo, it's not a scam, you won.

This guy just called me from 876-393-7911. Similar story to what the other people on this web site reported. He said I won $150,000 and a Mercedes Benz. He had a thick accent and it was difficult to understand his english. I laughed at him and asked what country he was calling from. He also said his name was John Henry. Seriously? I laughed again. He wanted my name and address, and of course I didn't give it to him. I told him that HE called me, and he should at least know my name if I won a prize. I hung up and went to my computer and found this website on the internet. I KNEW it was a SCAM!

a man called me claiming I had won a new mersades car and asked very detailed questions about what I wanted color and interior wise and said I had won 5 years of gas and insurance, also some money rpize. they would deliver the car to my house at 1230pm that I needed to be there with my western union receipt. he called continuously asking if I had madeit to western union then became kind of mad when I had not. I lied and said I was there and had given her the money and that she was verifying the phone numbers ect.... total bs but he believed that I was actually there, he became very mad asking what I had told the western union lady? and told me not to listen to her and to just send the money. he called back another 5 times beforei said she was reporting it and waiting for legal aid... he became very angry telling me to send the money and not listen to her, and that I was suppose to keep it confidential until I got my prize?? I kept him going for a while- waist my time ill waist yours! total bs!!!! the last phone call I was just telling him a load of crap so he would be nice again and te;ll me more info, he said he loved me and god had blessed me today and that as soon as I was done I needed to call him with the receipt # for the 475 bucks I was to western union him??? his number was 876-290-1547, BEWARE! his merchant banker that was to receive this money via western unions name is Benjamin Harrison from bailey, nc. the caller spoke in with bad English, was hard to understand-- maybe Jamaican or something? gave me his name but never said it very clear....

Jamaican Scammers! If you take another call from them, ask if they are aware of how many pissed-off, wealthy American tourists fly into Kingston every day. When he says no, tell him he might want to start thinking about it.

Then you deserve to lose half your income if you truly are that naive and really thank you for a real life example to those who are also as ignorant as you as to physically go somewhere and buy $800 of anything because someone told you to....

I got a call from the same number as you did(876-393-7911) from a guy named John Baker. I had won five millon dollars in cashers check, 750,000. in cash, and a suv. I traced the call to Kingston Jamaca. He said that they were to bring them to my house today and I needed to leave work and come home. He said to call him when I left work and he work be talking to me on my way in. I am still at work so all h did not get any money or my personal info. I could see the scam working if you did not know about them. Just had to tell someone else so they will not get caught in the scam.

DO NOT return the call from someone calling from a 876 area code.
876 is not a "Toll Free 800 number", it's the international long distance code for the island nation of Jamaica.
Jamaican scammers have long used the miss conception to trick victims into calling back, sometimes dinging large long distance/international call rates along with tricking money out of them.
Other international/long distance area codes are 809, 284, and 649.
    http://www.att.net/smartcontrols-809AreaCode

Scammers use these numbers to not only try to scam you out of money, but also sting you with high phone call rates.
