Caller ID said "Private Caller" so I let it go to voicemail. Caller identified himself as Fred Meyer, calling to say I won $850,000 and a new car from Publishers Clearing House and to please call this number.
    Number is from Jamaica.

Ditto.  Same number, same spiel.  I won also!  (Not really, I also let it go to voicemail).  Only my caller said his name was John Penney.  I wonder if his middle initial is C. (JCPenney-get it)?  Fred Meyer is the name of a supermarket chain.  The voice might have been text to voice.

I had the same call!  WOW!  A TON of us are super lucky in the midwest!  I won $850,000 and a new car from publisher's clearing house as well, and my "bearer of good news" was also John Penny, just like Midwesterner2!  Shucks.  Sad times that I let it go to voicemail.  ;-)

Same deal for my wife, called her cell with the 850k and a car bit, which is pretty obvious that it is a scam. The odd thing is... they knew her name... I suppose they will try and get any information they can to make it seem more legit.

Same thing here except when he said his name was Freddie Meyer...I asked him what this was regarding as I'm on a no call list.  He said he was with publishers clearing house.  I asked him for his ID #@ he hung up.  Added number to my no call rejection list.  Voice sounded more like a digitized voice than a real person.
