These people have called numerous (say up to 8 times in 2 months) times to ask us if we are moving our office space.  After repeatedly telling them we had no idea they continued to call.  

The lady I spoke with, Andrea, said she was calling from the BC Business Development Office, there is no such company to be found on the internet.  She had indicated she would fax something to me, that never came.

Previously I had seen a 215 area code on their number, indicating the call was originating from Texas.....what do they have to do with any business in BC, Canada?

I had a very simular call as Ali (above message). but the calls came from first a 215 number. then a 877 200 8815 then a 877 200 8816 then a 877 200 8825. always asking us if we plan to move or how many people we had working here, and how much we all made. Today after not giving any info they called back pretending to be Starbucks tell us that our office had won free coffee, they just needed to know how many people worked here. Oh and they said they were from BC Assessment.

They call my office from a number that is only zeros. Same info as above. When you question they hang up.

Same here, trying to find out number of staff and if we're moving office. Name was Dana, from 'BC Business Development Office'. Extremely pushy, finally hung up on me when I lost my temper..

They've called twice so far...

THEY ARE STILL AT IT.  CALL TODAY FROM 1-899-777-1117 WITH SAME SCHTICK.  IDENTIFIED AS "B.C. BUSINESS DEV'T OFFICE" AND THEN SOME B.S. ABOUT MOVING.  I KNEW IT WAS A SCAM.

I have had repeated calls as well but the phones at work aren't programmed to identify callers' numbers.  They have asked me if we are moving, when are we moving, who would know when we're moving and continue to call despite the fact that I told them no one in the office has any information about this.  I wonder who they are too.  I wish I knew what would make them stop.

I received a call from them too, I think its a company hired by Commercial leasing companies to identify new leads.  Next time they call, i will tell them that we are very interested in moving and lets see who calls us after.

Asked us if you are moving? We then asked for company name & a female person hung up.

I received calls for the past three years from the same thing, saying they were from the BC Business Development Office. I decided to follow through and tell them I was moving. Today I got a letter from a local moving company. I phoned them and found out that they pay for leads from a company called TMI Target Marketing (http://tmileads.com/). So I called them up and asked them to stop calling me. I told the girl on the phone that the people calling keep saying they're from BC Business Development Office and they said they aren't aware of what is said because they contract out the calls.

I had her remove me from their list, so feel free to give them a nice call and do the same... we'll see if it works...

Definitely still at it. Has been calling us for 6 months and asks if we have found a new location yet, when will we be moving, how many people are here, etc . 1-882-014-0105

Victoria from British Columbia Business Development Office has called repeatedly to ask if we are moving office spaces, and when we think that will be. Even when I told her the contact name she had with our agency was wrong, it still did not register. Seems like fraud.

Same problem here, they have called my company probably 100 times now in the past 6 months.  I tried talking to a manager today and got hung up on.  Someone needs to shut these guys down!

They've been calling here for years- Every time I ask to be removed from the list, they hang up. I asked for contact details, they hang up. I think next time I'm going to play along, see if they hang up then? I think this is a great opportunity to mess with some call-centre folks.

Called me today. Thanks for the above postings with various numbers. I hate telemarketers. All noted numbers now on my telecoms blacklist so should deflect all future calls from BC Business Development Office.

Caller claimed to be with BC Business Development Office, outright lied saying he was employed by the BC Provincial Government - I told him there is no such office. He asked if I looked it up on-line and hung up when I said yes. Looks like I was the lucky recipient of one of today's 50,000 calls. This appears to be the "lead gathering staff" of TMI Target Marketing Intelligence Corporation (www.tmileads.com). Here's a quote from their web site:

"Our lead gathering staff makes a total of 50,000 calls daily and produces nearly 600 leads per day. After our supervisors have completed their confirmation calls, only the best moving sales leads in each city are distributed to our subscribers. Our subscribers vary from one person operations to companies with several hundred employees. But they all share the same goal – To Increase Sales."

Not as bad as some scams. At least they're not trying to separate small business owners from their money - I hope. Thank you to those who posted before me...it helped me understand and deal with this call.
