- rmdf| 2 repliesReceived email and phone call from April Mullen and Cory from Cashland financial services wanting to offer a loan in the amount of $8,500 however this was after I submitted a wire transfer to cover insurance fee so that the private lender would be covered for 6 months of the loan had I failed to repay the loan.

- JoshuaJust want to let all of you know that I have contacted the better business bureau, attorney general, federal trade commission, western union, guadalupe county sheriff, FBI, phonebusters, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I believe western union cancelled the account under the name of ann marie campbell due to my report which may have tipped them off that they have been discovered. It would be a wonderful idea for all of us to get involved in the same way I have. Start locally as it is the best way to start. Get copies of all your reports and call the credit bureaus to report fraud. They will place your credit availability on a 90 day freeze for you so no one can check it without your authorization. Getting involved is the only real way these people will ever be caught and stopped. If you get a real address please post it. I want him for my personal slave and a human urinal.

Don't get sucked in!
Last Monday I filled out a loan application online. It was a loan simply based on salary, not credit score. Since my credit score isn't exactly top notch, I figured a loan like this would suit me best. I'm getting married in the fall and can use this to partially renovate my home and pay for the remainder of the wedding.
So I get a call back on Wednesday from someone named Michael Howard. Clearly asian (possibly Phillipino) with a simple American name like Michael Howard struck a chord, but I went with it. He said he was from Infinity Lending Group and he said I was pre-approved for my loan request of 50,000. I was cautious with any information given until I received a pre-approval letter in writing. The letter was sent to my e-mail address from this e-mail address: michael.infinitylendinggroup@consultant.com. I figured that I wouldn't send anything unless I had something in writing. So he sent a basic, yet official pre-approval letter. He said I had to fax over my drivers license before I would be able to get an official approval. Before I did that though, I simply googled "Infinity Lending Group" in California, which is where the agent stated that he was located. Not only did I find an Infinity Lending Group, but I also found an address, as well as a picture of the office building where the address is located (Through googlemaps). It also listed the other companies that worked in the 3 story office building, so I called another company from the building just to verify that Infinity Lending Group was indeed at that location. I received a firm "Yes", so I figured it was ok to proceed.
I sent over my drivers license as well as my last 2 pay stubs. They called me back with "good news". They told me my loan had been approved. Following that, they sent me over a very professional 10 page agreement, with terms and conditions. It had me sign in a few different places, as well as provide my account and routing number, if I was going to have the loan wired to me, which is the option I chose. They stated that it would be there in one to two hours. The only thing that I would have had to do is send the first 2 months payments to them, for insurance purposes. It made sense to me at the time, so I followed their very carefully written directions on how to make the payment. They wanted me to Western Union the money (1st sign of a problem) to a "Nicole Shea" (2nd sign of a problem) in Oakville, Ontario Canada (3 times a charm).
This raised a bit of a flag for me, but I was reassured that the Western Union enabled their insurance company to get the money quicker than a personal wire transfer, Nicole Shea was an employee of the insurance company that had to present identification upon receiving the Western Union and finally, that Canada was the location of the loan company and since the loan company was getting paid directly, thats where the wire had to go. So my mortgage payment was whisked away through Western Union to someplace in East Guam, where I'd soon find out was no-man's-land. This was last Friday at around 1pm eastern.
I called them to read the Western Union MCTN (transaction number) and verify that I sent the money. This was confirmed and I was assured at around 3:30 PM Eastern that my wire transfer was on it's way and would be there within a few hours! =)!
It is now the following Saturday and there has been no wire. There has been no money sent. Only money given to these crooks. But it doesn't stop there.
I was contacted on Tuesday by them (This was a 3 day weekend due to Presidents' Day on Monday). They had told me that the insurance company needed ANOTHER 2 month's up front because the initial amount was not enough to secure the loan. I asked for a manager first and after speaking with this reassuring gentleman, I asked them to put it in writing. They sent me yet another official looking document, which had to be signed and sent back. After that was completed and received I went to the bank to take out the remainder of OUR savings (after initial deposits for the reception hall and various vendors were given prior to this nightmare) and what did I do? Went to Western Union and went through the whole process again.
That was Tuesday around 1PM and I haven't heard from them since.
I must have called them 100 times Wednesday. I then decided to google "Nicole Shea Scam" and this blog popped up with a good handful of other unsuspecting people like myself, who have been taken advantage of in their time of need.
I then called my contact at the Better Business Bureau, who I deal with through my office from time to time. She had heard of similar scams and had given me the number of 2 listings of Infinity Lending Groups.
After speaking with them, I learned that the Infinity Lending Group that I dealt with was indeed a fraudulent company and has no affiliation with these other companies.
So not only am I out my Mortgage Payment, not only did I wipe out OUR savings, but I was the victim of a scam, on the verge of possible identity theft and even more behind the proverbial 8 ball than when I started.
They said they were in California but I believe that was just a lie and these people operate internationally out of Canada. My next step is to inform the Canadian Officials, as well as the FTC, BBB, AG and anyone else who will listen.
Thanks for taking the time to read this

- Scammed by Cashland replies to I H8 Scammers| 1 replyI just looked up the Infinity Lending on the BBB and they are giving this company a rating of a "D". There was a complaint filed against them and they have failed to respond. Also, there is no license on file for this company. Have you contacted the Canadian officials yet? I know that they take these kind of scams much more seriously than the US and they start their investigations immediately.
- This is how the SCAM Works: replies to Scammed by CashlandThe scam works like this: A dummy organization advertises using a name similar to a well-known bank, credit union or mortgage company and lists a phone number. The ads make big promises, offering money for people with no credit, bad credit or bankruptcy.
When would-be customers call and leave a message, they get a return call from a representative happy to make any loan or debt consolidation. The consumer is asked to send a check for application, appraisal or insurance fees. The victim also gives out all the private information necessary for a credit application.
They never see the loan, they never hear back from the company, and there's a good chance their credit card numbers will be used to further the scam.
When outraged consumers call to complain to the company they thought they were dealing with, they learn that they've just been added to the ranks of victims.
The trail is hard to find. The toll-free telephone numbers go out of the country. The credit card numbers used to place the ads are stolen, as are the credit cards used to buy the cell phones and satellite phones. A whole operation can be run from one room one day and a different one the next.
"We've taken down major operations, and they just spring up again," said detective Staff Sgt. Barry Elliott of the Ontario Provincial Police in Toronto. "This is very serious stuff. In the Toronto area, at any given time, we probably have 200 rooms working. In all of Canada, it's 500 to 1,000 rooms. That means there are 5,000 to 10,000 criminals calling out every day. It is astronomical how much money they are bringing in with this."
A Canadian task force set up to combat the scams lists at least a quarter-million dollars in reported U.S. losses from about 30 cases through last August, and U.S. activity by the groups has stepped up since then. That figure doesn't include the lost time and reputation of businesses that unwillingly become false fronts for the scam.
The operations are sophisticated and highly mobile. They use wireless satellite phones and laptop computers, and have the money sent to Western Union in Canada.
When an operation is caught and shut down in Canada, the perpetrators get two years of probation for a first offense, and perhaps a few days of jail for a second offense, Elliott said. "The Canadian justice system is just not scaring them away." - Dave replies to corner brook,nlAnyone with bad credit please pay attention. I am in the military and one of my personnel almost fell for this scam. The number was for Cathy Blair which is the same number that was listed by other posts. She asked my member to send money Western Union for insurance to Colin Allen in Ontario Canada for 780.00. A day after the money was sent, my member called them again and Ms. Blair stated that they needed an additional 680.00 to be sent to Keisha Jones in Ontario Canada. When my worker came in furious about sending the extra money, he talked to me about it. I specifically told him, no one who gives credit will ever make you bay up front. I told him to call from our office after he bought in the paperwork. Before he got his paperwork, I told him to go back to Western Union and see if Colin Allen picked up the money. Luckily he had not. When my member got back to work, we called Cathy Blair and begin questioning the application and reason for sending the money. I then took over the conversation and asked to speak to her manager. We convienently got disconnected. When we tried to call back and dial other extensions, hers was the only one. (Ext 228) She called my member back on his cell phone and I specifically told her I was a legal officer in the military and she would be reported with the phone number and the names she gave to send money to. (Funny thing is those people probably were ripped off these scammers are using their names). Please take heed as their number does not work anymore.
- Legal EagleDoes anyone remember what website they went onto to to fill out the loan application? Also the company is not Cashland Financial Services, they are fraudulently using their name. Cashland does not require customer's to provide any money up front, Cashland, once approved, provides you the cash first. Does anyone know what other companies these scammers are posing as?
