- q q replies to Go Canadait said r b c.but it showed united state on my call display
- Elaine replies to Go CanadaIt's definitely a Royal Bank number, 1-877-216-5027, for debt collections. You can call 1-800-769-2511 and ask to be transferred to debt collections. I started getting these calls when I got a new cell phone number a couple of weeks ago, and RBC's records were still targetting the previous owner of the number.
- jeni replies to RoskoI have been getting these calls for about 3 months now. I called RBC - and was told they had no reason to call me. the number displays United States but if you call back R.B.C. answers - no idea why the calls are made they had stopped for a couple of weeks but now I get 2 or 3 per day.
- Asif| 1 replyI got a call today on September 4, 2013 from 877-216-5027. The message was like: " Important message for the customer credit card ending and with my last 4 digits. Asked my to enter date of birth when I did it varified and told me to press 1 to deposit 20 dollars for previous month balance. I just felt strange and diconnected. But it rang again and this time asking my ontact information including my home number associated with account.
I checked my account online and there was nothing due on my account. It must be a scam.- Call type: Telemarketer
- Ryn| 3 repliesHow do I stop getting these calls? They keep calling, and it's rather annoying.
Glad to know I'm not the only one, though. At this point it's creeping me out.- Caller: 'RBC'
- Call type: Event reminder
- Asif replies to AsifI called RBC and they varified this is scam. Please please don't give any information and disconnect the call right away. RBC noted down this number and their credit card security department is investigating further.
- Asif replies to RynRyn,
There are lots of ways to block the calls. Every phone does it in a different way. You can even assign a blank ring tone to this number and it will not ring. Or you can call isp to block this. Here is some tips you can find http://lifehacker.com/5602865/whats-the-best- ... ng-my-cellphone - PJRBC confirmed the number is legit, the message alerted me that a location I use for gas across the border is currently under instigation for card skimming. They asked me to visit a local RBC and change my PIN. Problem (and phone calls) solved.
Cheers- Caller: RBC
- Jim GThis is a scam. They are spoofing a legitimate RBC number.
No bank will call you and ask you to input personal info. Period.
Visit a branch if you are a customer to prove it to yourself.- Caller: Scam RBC
- Peter M DodgeEven if this is a legitimate call, no banking employee should ever need to know your card # or expiry to pull up your record. Do not give it to them. Instead if you need identification, banks always use address on the file, postal code, and date of birth. They will need photo ID to make any bank changes anyways, so I would not deal with them over the phone. If you have a call, go in to an RBC and ask the teller if there are any problems with your account.
I get telemarketing calls from this number all the time, trying to sell me ID Theft Insurance, so it's probably a legit number, but it doesn't seem to be RBC themselves. It is probably a company contracted by RBC.- Call type: Telemarketer
- AJ| 2 repliesI started getting calls yesterday (Nov 4/2013) and more today... Same thing... Saying from Royal Bank with "important message regarding banking" confirming my Name and press 1... Followed by asking for personal info... Seems REALLY sketchy so I hung up followed by repeated calls... I called RBC at their Royal 1-1 number and they confirmed it was an RBC Robo-Caller and the "important messages" were in regards to product & service offers. I was really annoyed and demanded that this "feature" as they call it be turned off. They said they did. We'll see if the telemarketing continues. VERY DISSAPOINTED IN RBC SALES TACTICS right now. Booooo.
- Caller: RBC Royal Bank
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Peter M Dodge replies to AJ| 1 replyWhile all banks use Telemarketing, the RBC has no respect for their customers' time in respect to it. I originally had my small business' account with them, and requested repeatedly not to be contacted with marketing offers from them during the sign up process. The salesperson assured me that they would not and yet I get these messages all the time.
This is a number from a company contracted by them, probably some outsourced Indian company or something no doubt, so that the DNC list doesn't apply to them. The remedy? Block the call and use another bank. I switched to TD, making the same request about marketing calls, and they haven't bothered me after 2 years, except one time when my account had suspicious activity.
Given that its recently come to light how terribly they treat their own staff and how they outsource, I don't know why anyone would use RBC. - SomeGuy replies to Go Canada| 2 repliesNo, it's not valid. It's a scam. I called Royal Bank directly, and they confirmed it.
- SomeGuy replies to Fed UpIt's not from Royal Bank. I called them directly, and they confirmed its a scam number.
- SomeGuyIt's definitely a scam. I just called Royal Bank directly and they confirmed it. Do not give any information.
- SomeGuy replies to Peter M DodgeI just called Royal Bank directly, and they confirmed this number is a scam number with no connection to Royal Bank, and advised against giving any info.
- No one gets my infoThis is a fake [***] number the fact they ask you for your phone number instead of just already knowing it when you call them to figure this out gives that away.As well as every other [***] thing said. If RBC called looking for someone who isnt me then Im not going to give you MY credit information. If the idiots making the posts saying its legit when it [***] is not are the criminals and not trolls here is my message to you. If you actually got one credit card number out of this then id be surprised. I blocked this number and you are still able to leave messages voicemail for weeks. If I see this again I will notify the local police and the feds. You will be found. They will find the address the machine is at they will wait for you to come into contact with it and you will be arrested for fraud. Your poor ass wont afford bail once all your money is seized and you will spend 2-10 years in prison on that one charge alone. I actually hope you call, so call, and I hope you get pegged in Jail. This is your warning. The number is 604 618 1188 you seem to have machines in different countries which makes the whole situation worse for yourselves you know. Sure local police wont be able to catch you on all charges if you do that but they can still find you and the feds will make the arrest. Feds love to take money from [***] such as yourselves they just need to be made aware.and they will be.Just make the call.
