Gas and electricity re-marketer trying to lock you into fixed rate plans, over and above fair market rates.

I allmost got taken too.just put my cancellation in now

After moving into a new condo, an obese woman knocked on my door claiming to be from some government funded energy protection plan, she never once said the name of her company, or gave any real specifics.

She kept claiming she needed to confirm information off our power bill, I told her I haven't received my first bill yet. She left and said they'll confirm my info later.

Some Indian guy has been phoning me every single day for the past two weeks trying to get me to give him my account information off of my power bill, after doing some research, this is just a scammy company trying to get people to lock into fixed rate power plan WAY above what its ever going to cost, and on top of that it adjusts every year so it wouldn't be useful even if energy prices quadrupled. Complete scam, do not give these people your power bill or account information.

even if they do get your number off your bill, and you cancel your hydro services are you obligated to pay them anything for breaking contract?? I made the mistake of giving my number. Live and learn. I feel like an idiot. I have them calling me saying that I broke a contract and I owe them over 300 dollars. Do I really owe this if I signed something?

Any Customer (accrding to OEB-ONTARIO ENERGY BOARD)has a right TO CANCEL any agreement within 10 days of signing.
Just take clean sheet of paper and right a letter to cancel the agreement.
Include the following items in your letter (make it short to fit one page):
1. Date and Time
2. your complete name and address,
3. complete name and address of the company which signed you up,
4. any invoice or "registration form number" (should be on the form which
  was giving to you) ,
5. any representative name and employee number of the company which
 signed you up (should be on the form which was giving to you)
6. Write that you cancelling the agreement, to make it null and void.
7. Sign and date the bottom of your letter.

Fax your letter and copy of agreement you are cancelling (cross the agreement) to that company.
Use an option "print the report->sent items report" on the fax machine you just used to send a fax.
Staple report, letter and agreement together to keep it for your records.
You could also make a copy of all these documents and send "Registered letter" to make sure you could trace it with "tracking number"

Marketers came to my door, I said I was too busy to sign anything I needed time to research what they were asking me to sign.  I have received several calls to my home and my cell and would like them to leave me alone.

I just want to warn everyone that SUMMITT ENERGY has been going around Ottawa (Avalon neighborhood in Orleans). I had someone at my door on July 17, 2013. He said he was affiliated with Ontario Energy Board and wanted to verify if I was paying HydroOne's "new price" or "old price". When he put me on the phone and they asked if I agreed to a 5 year contract, I hung up the phone and slammed the door in his face.
Summitt Energy is a scumbag company and Carlo Cavaliere (rep no OK 1364) is a DISHONEST, MISLEADING, LYING jerk. If he comes to your door, tell him to get lost and call the police.
