They left a message.  They said they were from Amazon Fraud.  The number they left 877-227-0158 was a mailbox that said they were Chase Home Mortgage or HLB Chat.  (Now the number say who they are).  And the 224 number says they are Chase USA but you can't reach anyone.  I called and reported this to Amazon and the Chase as a fraud.  They both denied making the call and I have not opened a credit card recently and I do have Fraud Alert on my personal information.  So, both Chase and Amazon said this is fraud and I should not answer with any information.  My answer - is that I would be happy to have my attorney speak with them; they can just give me the information and I will send it along to my attorney for all banking purposes regarding "fraud" since they said it was Fraud Alert.

I got a call from 877-227-0158 from Karina who left a message saying she was from Chase Fraud Prevention service center. I called and the vm message and it was not the Chase account. I also researched and went online to Chase.com and could not find that phone # anywhere.

So is this a scam phone call? I believe it is an should be should be investigated and shut down.

I received a phone call today (Dec. 17 at 10:30am) from this number saying they were from Chase Fraud Prevention (Marriott issue).  

When I called, it was first busy, then it went to voicemail.  A young lady named Karina calls, she is very professional and sweet, they give you a reference number, etc.

At first I did not suspect anything, but my husband check through Google and it seems it's fraudulent.

Has this happened frequently, what does the consumer do?

I received a call from this number and no message was left. Later I received a letter referencing the same phone number and stating they needed to confirm I had applied for an Amazon Chase Visa, which I had done. I have extended fraud alerts and they had called one of the phone numbers on my alert.

While it appears the number is legit, I have since attempted to reach this number but the recording states they are closed. I called approximately 3:30 MST; their hours are supposedly 8-8 M-F EST, according to the record and the letter.

This # is legit -- Chase credit card fraud department.   I'd applied online for a Southwest Airlines credit card.  I have a fraud alert on my credit report.  Today I got a call from an Illinois number saying it was Chase, and they had to ask me some more questions about my Southwest application.  They started out with address, date of birth, etc.  and I decided I needed to verify who they were.  They said they'd give me a number to call them back, and that number was 877-227-0158.   I then googled that number, and read through this website. Bos I went to chase.com and called the main number (800-432-3117) for Chade Credit Card Customer Service.  Never ended up dialing the  877-227-0158 number, but Chase confirmed their fraud section had called me today to get some more info, and forwarded me to the right person to answer those questions.    So   - the # appears to be genuinely Chase fraud department.  Hope this helps!!

This number is LEGIT.  I applied for a Marriott Visa through Chase Bank.  A few days later, got a call from someone claiming to be Chase Bank, and due to a fraud alert on my account wanted some additional information.  The asked me for the current credit limit on a different chase credit card (Amazon), and to list some previous home addresses that might appear on my credit report.  I wasn't sure the call wasn't phishing, so I asked to call them back.  They provided me with the number 877-227-0158, and a reference number.  When I got home, I called Chase at the number on their web site, got connected to Chase Fraud Prevention that way, and confirmed that they had indeed tried to reach me earlier.  It is safe to call this number.

This is the number for chase fraud prevention.  I applied for a card on Amazon and due to my fraud protection I have this phone call was prompted.  I called them back and got the issue cleared up.  This appears to be legit.

I s7-0158 about an issue with my card. I instead called the number on the back of my card, and they confirmed that the above number IS NOT A LEGITIMATE CHASE NUMBER.

Do the research yourself before giving personal information to some that calls you. ALWAYS call the company yourself using a known number - almost always listed on either a bill or the back of your card - cold calls are too often scams today.

I can only suppose the posts above saying the number is legit are part of the scam, put there to mollify those smart enough to ask questions - call Chase using the number on the back of your card to confirm for yourself.

Matthew is correct. I called Chase directly regarding a voice mail left for me for a chase credit card that was attempted to be opened under my name. Chase informed me that this never occurred!

Its legit.
Called the 0158 number, got approved, went to Chase's secure website, called their credit card services number... and they confirmed 100% that I had been approved for the Amazon card which I was applying for.
I was worried at first just like everyone else here, but it's legit.

Received call stating to call back this number. I instead called number on back of credit card and they transferred me to Chase fraud Prevention.  Someone was trying to open a card with my identity.  Therefor I assume  the number is legit as the reference number they gave was used by Chase to identity the problem.

Received a call from alerting me about possible fraud on my Chase acount. I said I would call back and asked which number to use. The nice woman provided 877-227-0158 and gave me a 12 digit reference number. It is obviously not the same number for customer service that is printed on my card. Chase assured me there were no pending charges or fraud alerts on the account and to ignore the phone call.

I received a call supposedly from Chase looking for my husband, but they got my phone number from public records.  They would not disclose what they wanted, and when I told them that there had been numerous fraudulent cards opened with my husbands information they refused to give information and said he would have to call this 877-227-0158 number.

It is from Chase fraud alert system. I have applied for Amazon credit card (I confirm that it's true) and there was something on my report that made Chase calling me. Everything fits. They made sure that I am who I am to apply for this Amazon credit card. The application was run again while I was on the phone with them and I was approved.
