Came through as a company called Medical Financial Solutions, which looks like it's a medical debt collection agency. They left a message with the number to call back. I returned their call and through caller ID they were able to associate my phone number with a name (which wasn't mine or anyone in my home). The lady I spoke to said she would take our phone number off of their dialer since it wasn't associated with the individual they were looking for.

They'll 'say' they'll take your name off 'their list.' What they REALLY do is notate that your phone # "is a valid working #" & call you even more often than before; & worse they'll bundle up your "valid working #" with other "valid working #'" & sell them to other debt collectors, scammers, spammers, telemarketers, etc...

They left a msg that it's urgent that I call 877-240-6408, Medical Financial Solutions.  I had ONE medical bill which by coincidence I had paid yesterday; I called that provider and they said it had NOT been turned over to an agency.  So I am 99% sure that Medical Financial Solutions is a scammer, and I am glad that I neither answered their call nor called them back.

Woops, disregard the above information which I posted this morning saying that Medical Financial Solutions.  This afternoon I received a dunning notice from Medical Financial Solutions, in my spouse's name, for services provided by the local walk-in clinic the day he fell down the stairs.  I had paid the bill for the doctor; maybe this is for a billing from the X-ray lab for the x-rays which were taken that day.  Now I will have to call the provider and find out what this is for and why I didn't receive invoices.

Had two calls in two days. Appears to be a robocall. It disconnected both times after a few seconds of silence. Now blocked.

If it is a legit medical debt collector as others here suggest, I'm not aware of missing any payments. Could be they have my number for someone else -- I got a lot those calls when I first got a new number. If I somehow missed a bill, I'll wait for a notice in the mail so I can compare it to my records. I've been at the same address for 15 years.

With all the hacks and scammers out there, no way will I make payments over the phone, answer questions, or acknowledge personal information from an unsolicited call, no matter how well informed the caller seems to be.

The BBB has 6 companies listed with that name.  I also found one on the first search under that name.  I'm not sure why you are not coming up with any hits.

In any case, since they talked to you or left a message, they are now required to do this:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
