Had a message today from Christopher Adams?????, from CR associates, left a reference #714182, looking for a person that has never resided here, coincidently the name was the same as my wifes ex-father in law, who died last year!!!! Just for giggles i looked up the name of the company, it would appear as though they are popular for harrassing people and breaking the law.

I keep getting calls for someone that has never lived here from this number. When I tried to call them back to find out how to go about getting the calls to stop I spoke with someone named Melissa. She is more then rude and I would like to find out what company this is.

I noticed you had a posting regarding CR Associates. How did you look them up? I too am getting these calls on both my home phone and cell, but I don't know who they are for and the women that I spoke with was beyond rude.

Mr. Hartman with CR and Associates called from 877-241-4559 and stated that he desperately needed to get in touch with a family member and that it was extremely urgent.  He was looking for my husbands ex wife of 20 years !!! He had a file number that he gave me. I asked how he got our number and he said that he had hired private investigators to find her.  I took down the info he gave and said that if i could, i would forward the info but that I didn't know where she lived. I would not give out that info.

Peter Bronson claiming to be a collection agency....is this a scam?

I too get a phone call (4 days in a row now) from a "Vivian" saying she needs to speak to me urgently and it's very important.  She leaves a file reference number for me but not information as to what the matter is.  I'm not returning anyone's phone call without proper information.  Is this a scam?

Received a call that showed up as anonymous for the caller ID.  But the guy left a message and a reference number and told us to call him back at 1-877-241-4559.  No details and sounded really rude.

My exhusband in Louisiana got a call from Chris Adams with a case # for my son.  They told him it was urgent to speak with my son.  He hasn't lived with his father for more than 2 years and lives in another state.  My husband wrote down their information and said that his mother who has POA would call them back.  I called them within an hour of his received call and asked for Chris Adams.  He as on the phone so the man I spoke with said before he could give me any kind of information about his company or the reason for the call I would have to fax my POA for my son to them.  I told them no so the man rudely told me about federal privacy laws and hung up on me.

You people need to send them a cease and desist letter!

Chris Adams called my father about a year ago (who is mentally handicapped) and called him every name under the book. As his power of attorney, I had a fun time letting him know how many laws he was breaking, and what I would do if it didn't stop. Never heard from him again.

These people will also illegally claim to be police officers, lawyers, lawyers representing said clients, the IRS, law office employees, etc.

They left me an "urgent" message this morning and they called my sister as well and left another "urgent" message for me to call them back at 877-241-4559.  I did because I was alarmed that they called my family and spoke with a Melissa from CR & Associates who told me that one of my past creditors was going to file a 1099-c with the IRS and that I would have to claim my unpaid debt as income and I would have to pay taxes on it unless I settled with them.  I explained that it was way past the statue of limitations and they couldn't come after me for it and she started YELLING at me that I didn't understand the law and they were just giving me a courtesy call to settle the debt before the paperwork was filed.  I told her that she didn't need to raise her voice and that she couldn't speak to me that way.  She then yelled back that yes she could and "I can even tell you to shut up if I want".  I told her I had no comment about the matter except that the debt was past the statute of limitations and she yelled that the offer was now off the table and I could expect to receive the 1099-c summons in the mail shortly.   I hung up.  After reading these posts I will be putting in a call to my lawyer.

My son received a phone call from CR Assoc. they left the phone number of 877-246-1285 and a ref. #XXXXXX asking for my ex-husband, when I told them that I could give them his address but did not know his phone number, they said they already had his address, but they wanted me to contact him, I said we had been divorced a couple of years and that I no longer spoke to him, they then stated "so I am going to put down that you are refusing to cooperate" I told them I didn't give a darn what they put down, that I wasn't going to chase my ex-husband to give him their message, they then repeated the statement in a very ugly tone of voice and hung up.  I called back and told the man that he had been "very rude" and he said "your ruder" and hung up again...what I would like to know is how they obtained my son's cell phone number who has a different last name, and how they figured he or I into this equasion...as far as I am concerned they can stick it where the sun doesn't shine....!!!!

This Stephine Martin called saying that she urgently need to get in touch with me gave me reference number 682536 and to call her ASAP 1-866-248-3761 CR Associates  Christopher Adams answer machine picked up so I call the number on my caller ID 816 332 6242 from Kansas City Mo.

It's more than likely a collection call.  Do you have a lot of unpaid debts?, i guess it's time to pay for them.

I have been receiving calls as well. They also got hold of a ex-brother-in-law. They are bogus. If they were lagit they would be wiling to send written mail. They don't because thats evidence.

This unscrupulous company is illegally using credit information to harass and scare innocent people. They called one of my former co-workers at home and left a message. NEVER return these calls. NEVER refer them to others. NEVER answer these calls if you see this as a caller ID.

If you receive a call from this number, you have been called by junk debt / collection agency that buys debt from original creditors that has been written off or settled and is beyond the statute of limitations in most states. They are trying get the money for themselves, not the original creditor.

They are reportedly a serial violator of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). They may be illegally using credit information obtained from Experian or other credit reporting agencies.

This company has been known to contact and harass people they believe may know the person they are trying to reach including distant relatives, ex-spouses and possible former co-workers.

NEVER answer these calls if you see this as a caller ID. NEVER return these calls. NEVER give them ANY information about the person they are seeking or refer them to others.
