- KathyThis person call me like five or six calls from an unknown number and said their name is Carl Gibbson and said that they needed to verified my location and place of employment because they some kind of complain against me and if i want to talk i can call them at 1 877 247 0863 considered your self notify. Then they call my sisters looking for me. They call my job phone but hang up quick because they realize the called a government agency that track people down. Now if I'm suppose to be notify they was suppose to have my information already sent to me in the mail already. I think this related to the other call I got last month from a Amy Kinble claiming I owe some payday loan company called Cash Now. When I spoke to her again she change it and said it was Cash Net USA. Be careful out there. it you can try to get as much information out of these people and report them.
- Caller: N/A
- BeckyCalled with a file number and wanted all personal information. I told "April" I am a lawyer (and I am), know the laws in my state and I speak seven different languages. She was a little shocked. I told her I would investigate her and she seemed a little shaken. I know how to shake up the troops. She said she was calling from Longview. Don't know if that is the company or the location. I will stay on top of this. I know this is not something I want to deal with. I always inform the local police about all the calls I get that are a bit threatening.
- Caller: Longview
- Call type: Debt collector
- BeckyAdditional. I have their address and there is a message that the number is no longer in service. So they know how to play the game both ways.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
