- VigilantyMy solution for all unwanted callers is to just play a thousand hz tone at high-volume into their ear. you can find one in a number of different places by doing a web search.
- an answerGet Caller ID box if your phone doesn't already have Caller ID.
Do NOT answer calls you do not recognize the # for.
Keep a list of suspicious calls and report to the Federal Communications Commission (who will take info and also tell you to report to Federal Trade Commission. They investigate this illegal stuff.
FTC will give you a reference #. Keep a list of this "suspicious" calls and report them to FTC, using your reference #. I do, in fact will be reporting several today.
By the way, the criminals are so good, they have even spoofed police numbers at times. - Sally replies to Anonymous| 1 replyMy son and I both have serious health issues. Here I sit with my blood pressure sky high and my head thumping because of this phone call that woke me up and robbed me of precious sleep! Who's going to pay when they MURDER me? I am so mad I could spit nails!
- flyovermeMy spam calls like this have increased greatly the last two days though I never EVER answer. It's possible the spammers are trying to take advantage of Scott Walker's announcement yesterday as they know how popular he is in the polls. Just a guess.

- azschlitzerThey call me about four times a day and never leave a message. I have caller ID so I never answer the calls. VERY annoying. They need to stop.
- Willis replies to nomoboAWWW...whiny RW crybaby's itty bitty feewings are hurt. The truth sure does sting the baby doesn't it?
- Tom replies to SallySally: Set your phone on two rings and set volume low and let the answering machine do it's work. Then return necessary calls later when it does not interfere with your sleep.. If that doesn't do it, then turn sound off and return legit calls later. Sleep is #1 priority and I am sure that legitimate callers will understand that you are inundated with spam calls.
- Steve in MACaller ID says "Citizens United". I take the call.
They identify themselves as Citizens United (CU) and wish to speak to <not me> (NM). I tell them that I handle all financial transactions here (the truth) and that they need to talk to me. They tell me they'll call back later to talk to NM. I tell them that won't work any better in the future. They hang up on me.
Thanks for not respecting me, and in effect, telling me they will continue to bother my family.
I'll do this out of order as it is less confusing. I find out through CU that they have a hired-gun telemarketing firm. CU does not make its own telemarketing calls.
I call them back via the caller ID number. The message identifies them as CU. I select the donate-money option; I want an operator. I ask her if this is CU or a telemarketing firm. She says CU. I rephrase and ask a couple more times. She insists it is CU. I don't believe that a telemarketing firm would transfer me to CU for a donation; that would mean they couldn't take their cut of the donation. Conclusion: I am being lied to. I told her what happened. She was polite, but I could tell that nothing would change.
I decided to contact CU directly. Some charities are not fully aware of their hired-gun's tactics. I called the number on their web page. I told the operator what happened. She didn't show any sign of being interested/concerned.
Result: number will be blocked and I will not be giving to CU anytime soon.- Caller: Citizens United
