While trying to access a Bank of America site a box & a continually repeating message began which warned me that I had a virus on my computer and to please call this number ( 1-877-261-5407 ) to get it removed & that my personal information was at risk. It's supposed to be a microsoft # but I want to know if it really is, or is it a scam, before I call them!

THIEF calling.  Microsoft will not cold call you and there is no way the caller could know you had a problem unless he had remote access to the computer - a real NO NO!!

I was trying to get into the Best Buy site and a red screen from "Microsoft" appeared and told me my PC was locked and my data was in danger, to call this #. They are Indian scammers. Beware.

I too was trying to log into the Bestbuy web site, when a message appeared and seemed to lock up my PC. I did call the number but did not go as far as letting the Indian lady (very pushy) get me to letting someone have remote access to my computer. When I kept asking what this keystroke would do, & where it would take me. She kept insisting that I do this, so she can see what virus I have. She sounded like she was in a F'n factory floor because it was very noisy.    I hung up. they have called me back in an attempt to reach me (from phone #0 208 601 1012 & 208 601 1012) I did not answer.
I had to Ctrl / Alt / Delete to open the task manager, and shut down the internet program. I am now running a FULL virus scan, just to make sure.

The same thing happened to me I tried to log into Best Buy.  Unfortunately I allowed the man to remotely access my computer.  Then he tried to sell me a security protection plan.  Not sure what I am going to do next.

As most of you, I was attempting to access the Best Buy website and this box came up.  I called them, and after 10 minutes of a very pushy (likely East Indian accent) and him wanting remote access to my computer I just hung up on him.  I ran a full scan, Kaspersky, and no problems.  I asked where he was physically located and he told me Fresno, CA.  Right...

I was trying to access BestBuy, too.  Called the number, heard the background noise and the accent of the person answering the phone and knew immediately it was a scam.  Hung up.  Used Task Manager to shut down the internet, and am also running a full scan.

I also was trying to access the Best Buy site this morning when I received a pop up telling me my computer was infected with the Zeus Virus and that I needed to call 877-261-5407.The box also directed me to not shut my computer down. This is the second time in the past month I have had something like this so I tried to shut the machine down because that worked the first time. This time I had to Ctrl Alt Delete to close that browser. I have run updated Malwarebytes and Windows Defender and nothing was found with either. I would never call a phone number that appeared on my screen like this one did, and am glad to find out this is just another scam attempt and not an actual virus on my computer.

So I probed a little further to get some details. One return number that works for "Paul" is (713) 589-2886 (which I've put on the appropriate page of this site). They use the code "223-435-386" at the GoToAssist mechanism, and "838919" at LogMeIn. I wasn't able to determine what they used for TeamViewer since it is run a different way.

Their domain is hosted on GoDaddy. I'm not listing it here, it has been reported to them. The attack method against my customer was the same: Trying to go to the Best Buy website.

While trying to access bestbuy.com our iMac screen went grey with blue type and two small b/w boxes. Everything was full of dire warnings about our firewall being breached and that we needed to call the help desk at 1-877-261-5407. Being very concerned, I called. The person answered with a heavy Indian accent and said "Microsoft help desk." Since we have an iMac, I was immediately suspicious. He wanted access to my computer so he could analyze the problem. I asked a couple of clarifying questions then hung up. The background noise sounded like a factory production area. I'd like to punch these people in the face, multiple times.
