chris adams calling trying to get a hold of some one. when called back to find out what he was talking about , very rude - phone call was not about any one who lives here or ever lived here

Chris Adams, Debt Collector - very rude, screamed and yelled about debt owed. Finally identified himself as working for Debt Recovery Associates. Wanted payment but would not send over a bill/invoice. Said he would take me to court if I didnt give him money within 3 hours. Looked online for the business name and cannot locate it.

And if he doesn't file suit against you within those 3 hours (which he won't), then he's in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FCPA), and you will have grounds to sue him.  :)

The FDCPA forbids debt collectors from making false threats against consumers. In other words, it's illegal for a debt collectors to threaten a consumer with a lawsuit when they have no intention of doing so.  It's also against the FDCPA for a debt collector to falsely identify himself...that's another actionable violation if it turns out he gave you a false company name.

By the way, a Google search on 877-263-9594 showed that phone number as being associated with a mortgage company called RatesAndLoans.com. A listing of the Florida mortgage companies -- http://www.best-mortgage-companies.com/florida_continued.html -- shows an address:

Keep in mind that Caller ID information can be spoofed; so it's possible that the phone call didn't originate from 877-263-9594.
