did not answer/no message left/ID shows Toll Free Call

Msg on landline ans machine, from "Mary Patterson" re Tax Credit for our Florida Power & Light (FPL) account. Said to call 7276010842, gave a ref #. Did not call, but instead called FPL to report, and was told this was a SCAM, and others had also reported.

answered and caller was an automated male voice advising of a reference number, then a female automated voice with a 5 or 6 digits.  That's it.  No identifiers, no request for action.

This is a scam .Got same call from mary f p l ,and to call back. I do not have an account ,or ever had with florida power & light!!

Definitely a scam.  I believe it is a phishing operation to identify live phone numbers.

Just called me and a male (computerized) voice said "your reference number is" and then a female voice: "01014"

This is a scam to see if your number is live like previous poster said.

Left message said she was Mary Patterson following up on a notice regarding a tax credit incentive toward FPL bill and I should call her back at 727-601-0842 -- another scammer blocked!

Just left a confirmation number on my voice mail. Probably hoping I will call them back Lol

The messsge you received was verbatim to my experience. The fact that the caller left a message that was clear, concise & properly enunciated almost had me believing that it might be legitimate. However, I still had my suspicions until I read your message on 800notes; and the fact that you took the time to follow up with FPL is much appreciated. Thank your for your post.

The least the random calls about energy rates (solar included) are aiming for is getting your personal information and possibly more. The caller has more interest in finding out receivers'  name, address to go along with your phone number than what you're paying for electricity. This allows other pests to surprise you by knowing all your information ahead of time before you ever talk to them, i.e., phishing with energy.

Telephone call from "Mary Patterson" calling about a tax credit for FPL bill.  This is a scam.  Do not return the call.

Also got a call from Mary with FPL , did not call back figured it was a scam and from what I read it is

She wants me to call her back @ 727-601-0842.  Thanks to everyone else who posted that this is a scam.

Same message, same phone number, same reference number, but this time from Withlacoochee Electric.  Reported.  Thanks for the heads up!

Bogus caller about some refund claim from my local electric provider. Left name of Mary Ann Patterson and return number of 727-601-0855 on answering machine.

Had the same verbatim call today about my Capital Credits with my electric company. Thankfully I CHECK every number before i return a call!!

Called the number anyway for a laugh and some African sounding black dude answered and was totally confused, said it was some 3rd party service to help me with a tax break on my power bill. Great I said, which company? YOUBEADIKHEAD FLP OR URA [***] GRU? He said it didn't matter what company I got power from (clueless to the insults), he could cut 33% off my bill. REALLY!  how much can you cut from 1,000 dollars? 450? Yes! he said. I told him he needed to go back to school and study elementary school math because he was one stupid African! He hung up.
