- lfThis is a very real looking SCAM. I called the number myself after getting an email that my account info was updated without my permission. Stupid me. Luckily I hung up before giving them my personal info. If you google any AT&T number lots of results come up directing you to AT&T. If you google this number the only info that comes up is this, so take it seriously and don't give them your personal information!

- GI received two of these emails today, the only reason how I new something was fishy was that they used my previous first name I haven't used that name in years. I didn't call the 1 877 273 2728 I called 611 from my cell to asked them about this email and that I did not request for my password to be changed and AT&T told me it was a fishing email and not to reply nor call the number in the email. And when I googled it I found this site.

- Nhar| 2 repliesSerious scam....not AT&T. DO NOT CALL DO NOT GIVE INFO text msg stated my password was changed and to call number if not. I called the wanted my name social etc. I gave them nothing and told them I was going to call att at a number I knew is legit.
AT&T said this is a scam looking to use your info for fraud.- Caller: At&t
- Call type: Prank
- NickGot this as a text: AT&T msg: Your AT&T online password for User ID 000.000.0000 has been changed. If you did not make this change, call 1.877.273.2728.
The zeros are in place of my real number which they had. Came straight here first to check the number and found this thread. Scam te. Whsts weird is that att just sent me a txt from the same place telling me that we had almost used all our data as well. It had a link to they att app.- Caller: Att

- Tim| 2 repliesOn Thursday, 23Apr15, at 1010 and 1013 (all times EST) I received the following text message from 7535 (my userid redacted to be "*"):
"AT&T msg: Your AT&T online password for User ID * has been changed. If you did not make this change, call 1.877.273.2728."
Given AT&T does use 7535 to send automated notifications, I assumed the messages were legit. I called the number and stated very plainly I neither made nor requested the change. When they asked me for my name and the number about which I was calling, I provided that info to them. When they requested a "callback number" I referred them to the number they already had.
They then asked me to "verify the account", and the next thing they requested was my account password! I did not provide it.
Nobody should ever ask you for your password, ever. You should never provide it, ever. - Lee Ann LowmanI received a text that supposedly came from AT & t saying that my on line password was changed and if I didn't do this to call the number. I didn't change my password so I called 611 AT & t customer service was informed that someone called posing at 645 pm asking for help needed it desperately because they needed to get into my on line account They of course didn't help. And at 718 pm is when I received the bogus text. After speaking to rep from the 611 I still I called that number asking about how to report whoever the person was who changed my password and called at 645 pm. A female rep puts me on hold comes back said sorry that was a glitch in our system no one tried changing your account your all good. I said then explain to me why at 645 pm someone did call needed help and was very trying very hard to get into my account. How do you not see this and I was told from 611 that this most certainly did happens No that's not true she said. Looking at your account nothing in past 30 days has been an issue on your account I see not one note stating otherwise. Red flag right there cause that's not true. But she didn't need to know that. I said really and hung up. . knew right then my suspicion was correct that At&t didn't send me that text me that text I called 611 and gave them the 877273 2728 the rep said that is a scam! . I'm seeing so many complaints posted good going and thank you for calling back. FYI At & t numbers are 611 and 800 331 0500. No other number should be calling saying at t unless it's one of those. I noticed as well the At & t logo was not the same as well as the texts I've received the word "msg" was all lower case which the right way. Msg is the correct and only way they spell Msg in a text Be careful and good luck. Really good at every word and how they words things.

- ScammedJMNY replies to Tim| 1 replyThis sounds similar to my experience. Once I'd given them my phone number (which should have been my immediate signal that it was not AT&T) I waited for quite a few minutes while I listened to the girl with foreign accent typing info into computer. I started getting a sick feeling and she continued to say "One moment, one moment, hold on..." That's when I realized that they were trying to get my to hold on for some reason and immediately hung up. My question to you:
Since they got your phone number, have you experienced any fraudulent attempts to use your identity? - JackieI rec'd the following email:

Ironic. Did you notice what they had in the email?!! A cautionary note to protect yourself from fraudulent emails. Why I didn't follow my gut instinct on this can probably by chalked up to the inordinate amount of stress I've been under lately, but I called the darn number. It sounded legit, but also sounded like they were trying to hard to sound legit. The so called Customer Service Rep sounded very inept with a strong Asian accent. She apologized for any error AT&T made in sending the email, and asked for my phone number. THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY CLUE TO SCRAM!! I remaining on the line while I could hear the "rep" typing furiously on a keyboard, saying "just wait, please keep holding, be right with you..." Obviously attempting to get me to keep the connection open for some reason. I grew sick with the feeling that I knew I was being scammed and hung up.
I called the number on my phone and spoke to an AT&T rep. You can forward these phishing emails to AT&T at
abuse@att.net, or forward to the FCC at spam@uce.gov

- Mendieta replies to ANGRYGRAMMAThe same thing happened to me. I did not called the number provided. I called at&t directly and I was told by the rep that my account had been hacked. Please be careful who you call back.
- JohnI received 2 emails today that said they were from AT&T. The first email said, "Your temporary password for your home phone ending in **** is ******. " I haven't had that home phone for a couple of years. The email also had my name.
The second email said , "Your AT&T Home Phone/Internet password was updated." The telephone number on the emails were 1.877.273.2728. I called the real AT&T number, but they just told me to log onto my actual account and make sure my password wasn't changed. I didn't have any trouble logging onto my actual account, so I am sure these emails were scams!!!!! - CC TXI received 4 emails about an account password change, within minutes of each other. I had a Uverse technician at my residence about two hours prior, so I presumed it was real and called the number provided. There was just something about it that didn't feel right though. I gave them my name and a callback number, and then they wanted the last 4 of SSN, which ATT rarely asks for. I said I didn't want to give them that, and they said they needed it for security purposes. At the same time I had googled the number and found this site, so I hung up and called ATT directly. As with the others, they told me to forward the emails to abuse@att.net and transferred me to a security specialist to change my password.

- CRBI just got six emails saying my AT&T account password had been changed. I did not change my AT&T password.
The emails look official (with AT&T logos) and say they are from AT&T Online Services but when I looked at the detailed email address that the emails came from they say: att-services.cn.#######@emailff.att-mail.com. The #s are all different numbers for each email I got and I'm pretty sure .cn is China.
877-273-2728 is the number listed in the email saying I should call it if I believe I got the emails in error. Yeah right, I'm not calling it. - Dh replies to BBI got a messages that said thank you for updating your account....which I had not done. I also called a known AT&T number and they said they were suspicious too. They put me on hold and called the number. They said it sounded like a legitimate number also - however - They said scammers make themselves as much like the scammed company as they can. AT&T said since they used (.) instead of (-) in the number they requested the e-mail be forwarded to their abuse line anyway. I see you have typed (877.273-2728) - in my email it was (877.273.2728). There should not be this type of alterations in official emails - per the AT&T rep. Just being careful.
- anaproGot several emails saying that there was something wrong with my PIN at att. I called ATT and they had no record of a problem with the PIN nor any record of an email being sent. I then got an email saying that my ATT password has been updated and to call 877-273-2728 if I received the email in error. Since the whole thing looked suspicious, I searched for the phone number and came here. Thank you for all the heads up.
- Enough Already!| 2 repliesYou can thank companies for sending call center jobs overseas to India. That's how they are getting our info. They or someone they know work for a big company call center that has all our personal info, they then copy and sell it to scammers. Bring jobs back to the USA!
- Cathy in St. Louis replies to ANGRYGRAMMAThis is definitely phishing. I talked to AT&T as well when we got the same email.
- Cathy in St. LouisThis is definitely a phishing scheme. I talked to AT&T and sent them a copy of the email containing this number. (Email said our account profile had been changed and to call if we didn't change it.) AT&T is concerned about this and is looking into what they can do, but honestly, I work in the area of fraud prevention and as soon as one of these places is shut down, a new one springs up in its place. The laws have to be changed so the punishment is severe enough to deter these jerks.

- Bob SmithIf you receive a call from this number, it's probably a scam. It appears to be a valid no. for AT&T's Digital Assistance Center but is not used by AT&T for outgoing calls.
I received this number in a legitimate email from AT&T as a means to contact their Digital Assistance Center.
BEWARE IF YOU RECEIVE A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER.- Caller: not applicable
