- Melissa| 1 replyBest Buy Credit Card fraud prevention - they'll call you if there's suspicious activity on your card. You can call it back and go through an entirely automated process, nobody selling you crap, and it just says "you had a transaction of X amount on X date at (location), press 1 if you recognize this, press 2 if you don't." Not a telemarketer or collection call. I don't know if it's the same automated system if you answer it outright when they call, but when I called back, that's what I got, as I made a transaction today after flying halfway across the country, so it must have looked suspicious.

- cryptospore replies to AnitThis is the Best Buy Credit Card fraud prevention and not spam. I got a call from them a few days ago hey said that someone tried to charge $250 on my account. They voided the charge and will send me a new card. For once I'm glad a toll free number called me.
- Tony from Los AngelesI received an email indicating there was some fradulent charges and then I received an automated call from this number. I was suspicious about the number so I called a different 800# and learned some losers had made 60 transactions in a day. It's a legit number.
- Caller: Best Buy/Citibank
- Rhonda Smith replies to MelissaI have not ordered anything online I don't shop online I don't recognize it
- EdThis number is not a scam, it is actually legitimate, unlike most calls that come up on this site. It is Best Buy Citi-bank fraud prevention. They flag errant transactions and do preventive cancellations for large scale compromises. They will provide the best knowledge they can about the errant transaction or the compromise, but if it's a new compromise they may not have much information to give at the time of the call.
- Caller: Best Buy Citibank fraud prevention.
- CherNOT A SCAM! It is Best Buy Card Fraud.
- beth| 3 repliesThis is Not Best Buy fraud. Confirmed by an account specialist at Citibank. This number is looking for zip codes and ss# to complete a profile so they can steal your cc info. The people responding to this saying it's legit must be part of the scam. Always hang up and call the number on the back of the card. Then ask to have a new number issued because someone is about to scam you!
- Caller: Scam
- Becky replies to bethNot true Beth. This is a legitimate Citibank number. I did call the number listed in the card and they confirmed it. I also received an email. This was easily verifiable.
- BeckyThis was a legitimate Best Buy fraud prevention call. Anyone who is concerned can easily call Citibank at the number listed on their credit cards to confirm.
- Caller: Citicards/Best Buy
- RondascuteGot a call today. Said it was Best Buy fraud. I got nervous so I called the number back..when the man started to ask me for my zip code I gave it and if I approved a $3 transaction in NY I said no but when he started asking me about my security words on my account I told him I was calling the number on the back of my card. In the meantime I got a text on my cell saying a $404 charge was attempted in Virginia. So I said no I did not make it and the same number called me back. I was already on hold with the number on the back of my card. It was truly a fraud attempt and this number is Best Buy fraud dept.

1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) - LBWhile I agree it is absolutely best to initiate a call to the number on the back of your card, that does not negate the fact that this number is, in fact, Citibank Best Buy VISA Card’s fraud prevention department. If you receive a call from this number and are uncomfortable speaking with them, hang up and call the number on the back of your card and ask for fraud prevention. You got the call because an attempted transaction with your card was flagged as potentially fraudulent. You probably received an email and/or text stating the same, and asking you to call. They will review a few transactions, invalidating those that were not you. If there were unauthorized transactions or attempts, they will cancel the card and send you a new one with a new number

- B-Edwards replies to KentoIt is irresponsible to say or imply calls from this number are Legit without recognizing the strong possibility that the number and name are being spoofed in your Caller ID.
The safe advice is to thank the caller and then call Best Buy on a number you KNOW is correct and they you dial for yourself.
