    What's going on?
    I received a letter from BNY Mellon, it said my personal information had been on an unencrypted tape lost by one of their vendors.  BNY Mellon Shareowner Services wanted to me call 877-278-3452 to sign up for free credit reporting for 12 months.

    Reported to my State Attorney General office, they said the letter is legitimate.

    Reported to FBI, they told me the letter was fake.
