- Moose09I am so tired of these unwanted phone calls. I signed up with the Do not call registry, but evidently these people have a way of getting around the law. It was almost 9:oopm tonight and I finally had a chance to sit down when this phone call came in. I did exactly what they said to do when I signed up with this Do not call registry. What do I have to do to stop these calls? I don't want any of this to even come into my phone. I will not buy anything or donate anything to anyone that bothers me at home, so they might as well try someone else.
- Caller: don't know
- Southeast MichiganI've received 6 calls from this number within the past week. I haven't answered, so I have no idea who is calling. Certain types of organizations such as political organizations (which isn't surprising because our politicians pass these laws), charities and telephone surveryorss are exempt for complying with Do Not Call Registry. You can find more info at https://www.donotcall.gov/. If a third party is calling on behalf of a charity, you can request to not be called and there are possible fines if they don't comply.
- FEDUPErroneous call to my home. I have signed up for the DO NOT CALL LIST, but still get unsolicited sales calls.
- NE KansasI just called it back and their recording said they are exempt from the Do Not Call List. It is from a "charitable" organization BUT you can leave your name and number and they will remove you from their list. I did - we shall see if they really remove our name and number from their list. Ugh!
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- PAMELA VANDERLISTThey won't say anything but just keep calling. We are on the DO NOT CALL LIST also.
- Caller: UNKNOWN NAME
- JeanneMy husband answered a call from what the caller said was the VFW. He said to send him material by mail. This number calls 3 - 4 times a day to speak with him and only him. I recognized the marketing ploy and told my husband to tell these people not to call anymore - he did not make a pledge and should not fall for that trick. I called the caller ID. It is Direc-Tel, a marketing firm that assists non-profit charities. I left my phone number and both of our names to be placed on their Do Not Call list. We'll see.

- Jmill02They call several times a day and no matter what I say when I pick up the phone no one EVER says anything! Very frusterating!!!! Any ideas on how to get them to stop calling?
- Make-A-Wish FoundationFRAUD ALERT: Today the Make-A-Wish Foundation received a call from a Michigan woman who was contacted by someone at this number, falsely claiming to be a Make-A-Wish employee wanting to know if she knew anyone who might qualify for a wish. When she offered that she might, the caller said she would have to give them money in order to receive more information about the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation does not solicit funds over the phone, nor would anyone from the Foundation suggest that someone would need to pay money in order to learn about how a wish is granted. THIS IS A SCAM. We are following up with appropriate law enforcement authorities.
For more information about the Make-A-Wish Foundation, visit our website at www.wish.org or call us at (800) 722-WISH.- Caller: Direct Tel

- carol randallI get calls from this number at least twice a day.. It doesn't matter if I answer it or let the answering machine get it, they hang up without saying anything as soon as they hear a voice. We are also on the DO NOT CALL list.
- KendallI continue to get calls several times a day, I also am listed on the DO NOT CALL list but they are still calling. This is a Sham! please stop them from calling.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- KendallI have received calls from this number too. I also am signed up for do not call list but they seem to get around it. It is a sham!!!! Please stop them from calling.
- DNOI just hit the answer button and put the phone down, I figure I'll waste a little of their time too
- Russ| 1 replyJust got another call from whoever they are, this morning. I didn't take it. I work late and try to sleep in. I pay for "call intercept" ($8 per month) just to stop this garbage. Now I have to add this number to the list. I don't know why our government reps. can't stop this stuff...they have no problem robbing us blind otherwise.
- batista replies to RussIt is not make a wish, but another charity that sounds similar. so people think that are donating to the make a wish foundation.
- JonThey called and wanted to know if I would confirm a charitable donation to the VFW. I didn't say anything, she said thanks and hung up. Did I have to provide any information, or can they just charge me?
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- karen in txDirecTel uses multiple phone numbers, but the situation is the same.
This is NOT an actual charity but a PAID donation solicitor!
Taken directly from ftc.gov:
"5. Do the do not call provisions of the TSR cover calls soliciting money for charities?
Charities that are calling on their own behalf to solicit charitable contributions are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from or on behalf of that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 ."
These calls are made by a 3rd party telemarketer on behalf of a charity. (Another subject- how much of any phone donation made thru them actually makes it to the charity?!!!! They do this to make money- they are NOT "the charity"! I will be telling them NOT to call me again for ANY reason & I look forward to their penalty payment if they do! DO NOT let them mislead you- their recorded message says since they're calling on behalf on a non-profit client they don't have to follow the Federal Do Not Call list! The recording says you have reached the customer service line for "DirecTel" (sp?) Incorporated National Operations.
They MUST remove any one from their calling lists who requests it & face LARGE fines if they call again, no matter which phone number they use!- Caller: DirecTel
- schmuck!Great! I just paid another dollar to get this number and google it, and I find this! I just promised a $10 donation to the VFW, these are the charities I just have to give a little something to in order to thank them for servicing our country. I didn't give any financial info to them, they are sending me something in the mail. I will give to military charities if they are legit, I am on the Joke-of-the-DNC-list also.....man, this sucks!!!

- infuriated in michiganWhat's the sense in passing a law that isn't going to be kept? This really ticks me off that these morons and idiots can get away with this garbage! The only good thing is that I can "block" these calls on my phone and it will only ring once and disconnect, but I'm still getting the call weekly. I called this number back and it's automated stating it's some kind of charity...........charity my @ss! I say find out who this creep is who's doing this and throw'm into the street so he can get the cr@p beat out of him! That just might stop him from doing it anymore! Better yet........hopefully it'll start ringing in our "government's" offices and they can deal with it!
