This number has called me at least 4 times in the last 3 months  I've answered twice to ask them to remove me from their call list.  They supposedly cannot do that unless I give them more information to confirm my identity.
They say they are Consumer Legal and are "warning" me that I will soon be served with arrest warrant/subpeona because a former creditor (pay day loan/credit card/personal loan) claims I have not repaid my debt.  NONE of which is true  I have finally blocked this number but expect they'll call again with a different number

Called me saying they were sure I didn't mean not to have paid a debt that I owed, but they could settle it for way less. When I asked for clarification, the man - Steve Taylor - gave me a fake address (I looked it up and it was for a house for sale in Georgia). When I told him I was filing his number with NC Attorney General's office , he wished me good luck and hung up.

Have they filed anything further? Or served you?  I have been receiving calls and they finally called my work.

They wont, since it is illegal to extort money from someone by lying to them about getting arrested or having a warrant. Its not a crime to owe money, but it is a crime to tell someone they will be arrested if they don't pay.

Hello- I got the same call today and threats.  They said they were certain I meant to pay something back, but wanted to help me - they had no proof of what I owed and wouldn't assist me.  I told them I owe nothing and to send me paperwork.  This is a scam

I got a phone call on 11/27/17 stating that I owed a bill from 2013 from a payday loan that I didn't pay and that my bank account Chase bank at the time was taking out payment and stopped. I then got an email for Credit Karma.com that someone had done a hard inquiry on my credit on 11/25/2017 which happened to say Chase Bank, I have not opened anything or applied for anything. They also told me that I only had 24 hrs to take care of this issue then when I blocked # since I thought it was a scam they called me from 678-609-4852.

I received a call from the same number. Stated that I owed a loan from 2013. They had the last 4 of my social # and a bank account number. I never have applied for a payday loan. I received a very similar call 3 years ago. They threatened to send the law to arrest me. I said send them on but they best have proof that I signed for that loan. I did call my banks and put a fraud alert on my info since they had everything. The gentlemen said if I heard from them again that all I would need to mention was cease and desist and if they contacted me again to process legal action against them. DON'T give in!! They say all the right words to make you believe you owe it. ITS A SCAM!!

I keep getting calls, leaving threating messages from multiple phones numbers. I have not received anything in the mail pertaining to the loan they are threating me about. Is this illegal?

it is illegal to extort money from people. which is what they are doing. Said they were going to have the sheriff come and arrest me TODAY at my work. I said ok, he is a friend of mine, I will call him and so I can meet him to clear this up so go ahead and forward the paper work. He quickly hung. It is NOT illegal to be in debt, they cannot throw you in jail, come to work or anything else like that. They can take you to court if it is ACUTUALLY a real issue, but they wont cuz it is all a scam and definatly illegal

I received a call from 1-800-733-8839 and when I answer a man says I need to call 1-877-279-9206 in regards to a debt I owe saying I will be served with a summons at my job and home if I do not call and make arrangements. He hung up the phone before I could say anything.   I did not call that 1-877-279-9206 because I think it's a SCAM.

This number calls all the time claiming I was served legal papers and never responded. They act like I defaulted on a debt and want me to give them a bunch of personal information.  It’s B.S.

Very illegal...it's a scam, don't fall for it, like the person on here stated, they say all the right words to scare you. If they can't prove what they are saying, ignore it, hang up & don't listen to it

Listen ppl. We are intelligent human beings, we know a scam when we hear one. These ppl are trying to harass & bully us. These ppl have been doing this for a long time so do Not give in. We need to find out who these idiots are because they almost got my 80yr old Grama to send them $500. That's wrong!! We need to protect those who don't have the clarity to know that this is a scam. Most Seniors are on a fixed income so this will be a hardship for them. If I find out who & where this is coming from, I will file suit against them with my own money, someone has to step up & set the president, that this is NOT OK. Please be safe, be aware and be Blessed.

I think is our responsibility to educate and inform our vulnerable family members and friends.
We have to prevent them to answer non known phone calls.
You can't change what other people do, but you should do what is in your control.
You need call blocker for your Grama.

1-877-279-9206 - Norman Wells left message on my phone concerning legal matter that me or my lawyer needs to contact him immediately. This is a scam I have nothing outstanding.

Same calls every so often, why I have an answering machine, stated for my "son" and he immediate pending legal matters.  Good line for a scam and scares people into paying. Such a shame. FWIW, retired LEO, so I just laugh when hear recording.,.
