This is NOT direct TV!  My account is current.  They also show on caller ID as Unknown Name.  The automated recording wants me to enter the number associated with my account, or my account number.  They are calling me!  Why would they not properly be ID'd on caller ID,  why do they want me to enter my phone number?  Direct TV requires their customers to have a credit card on file.  It sounds like a phishing scam to get to the credit card info.   I have not entered the info they request.  I just hang up and call Direct TV.  Each time I am told that DIRECT TV HAS NO NOTES ON MY ACCOUNT INDICATING THAT THEY HAVE CALLED ME.  This is a phishing scam!

It's not DirecTV ... I don't even have DirecTV ... it's a phishing scam.    AND the same outfit calls using either 877 or 866 numbers ... but always the same message to call with your DirecTV account #, your phone #, and a credit card for payment.   Some organization is phishing ... ID theft if you give them any info, you'd be walking right into their trap.

It's DirecTV and they are reminding you to pay your bill via automated voice. It's not a scammer or phisher.

PS.. They do call on Sundays. If you try to tell them it's Sunday and illegal to call to collect on Sundays they will just say it's a courtesy call/friendly reminder, etc.

For those of you saying its a scam, its not.  It really is directv, I only know this cause we are late this month and I answered it listened to recording and called the main number back, not the one they gave me and told them when payment would be made.  They said I will receive calls until the payment is made.  Sometimes people give wrong number to companies thinking they wont be calling me.   I recently started receiving mail (postal) from a storage building company and it was some other persons name though.  We received more than 3 I returned all saying return to sender.  So I called them from searching the companies name on the envelope and I explained there is no person here by that name.  They explained that someone gave our address as their home address.  I'm like nope I can fax a copy of the front page of our lease for proof of who lives here and that wasting their time, my time and paper!   They took a storage building and put it somewhere cause it wasnt on our property ever!  So strange things do just randomly happen cause of typos or just people who lie about there address or phone number!  You know what happens next when they have your address, they reverse search it and start calling! Good Grief it can be a nightmare!  Being we are renters and I like it that way lol I need change every so often, we run in to crazy stuff like this.

but as for the phone number IS FOR Directv its really not a scam!

MZB- You are missing the point. NEVER call back a number you get in an email or phone message. Credit card? call the number on the card, or statement. Over due bill? call the number on your statement. Phone numbers & web sites are easily faked. NEVER call back a number you don't know & NEVER give out information on a call you didn't make.

the number shows to be unknown, but, when i called it back, it answered DIRECT TV; calling about my account.
I am current; it advises to go online and pay or call back to speak with someone:  8667672069...In the Interem, it does give the correct # for direct tv.

This IS  DIRECT TV.  They called at 4:30pm on Sunday from 877-283-6572 as a courtesy reminder for a past due bill. No big deal.  The recording gave the correct # to call back to make payment.

Direct TV is trying to Suck Up to the FCC. They hired a bunch of what they thought were Displaced Homeless Computer Engineers. What they got was a bunch of Kronic Masturbators who, rather than being Computer Whizz's turn out to be Computer Losers who whizzed on themselves when they lost at Angry Bird.

Why Yes, Direct TV hires Morons to write their Scripts. These Fools have programmed the Direct-TV auto pest to call during meal time on Religious Holidays hounding for money. It seems that no one in the Direct-TV office is working, if they were they would know that this bill has been paid, account is current and that they are not owed any money. This is what Direct-TV gets for employees when they pay for unskilled workers.

Could Direct-TV suck any worse? First they charge a high rate for flakey programming, topped with endless commercials about how much better they are than Dish. The marketing at Direct TV attempts to hype one scam after another while giving poor to terrible service stating that it would be better if you would just sign a contract and commit to their "Upgrade". These lying thieves should be Tarred, Feathered and Run Out of Town on a Rail.
