they won't identify themselves on callback...

Just got called by someone using this as a callback # - id'd themselves as a process serving firm notifying me of a court summons.  Did not give locality or any other details, but they may not be able to even of legit.  However, they used the firm name "Metro Judicial Services", for which a Google search comes up empty.  Sounds scary, using words like "charges", however if this were the cops they wouldn't use this guy...  I do have debts, so I suspect it's a legit collection call I have to deal with.  Your mileage may vary....

Called my work number. I instantly informed her that it was a work number which couldn't be used as a contact #. Hung up. She called right back! –That's against the law "Amber."

But onto the script.
She said
"uh,I guess, uh some paper work" (Can't say summons? Why so vague?)
was to be delivered "requiring a signature"
but "they could not get the signature for whatever reason." (I don't think this attempt even happened)
And that they're "not responsible for whatever means it takes the authorities to locate me."
And that "if I fail to appear, it will be held against me."
–But I could "contact the filing party with any questions."

"Amber" if the "filing party" is filing a suit, it'll come through the court –to my home, and they won't bother to call to discuss the summons' delivery. And certainly wouldn't call back after understanding it's violating FDCPA law. And (way down the line), if I failed to appear in court –in a legitimate case, there would be a default judgement against me, after which the court would seek whatever award the suit asked for. ...A far cry from the SWAT team crashing through my office windows today which you would have your callers believe.

I'm not saying people aren't ultimately going to win or loose these battles. But I do know, there's definitely a civil legal system, and these calls are definitely purposefully misleading about the true due process.

SOMEONE CALLS FROM A PRIVATE NUMBER WHEN YOU ANSWER THEY SAY TO HAVE SOO AND SOO CALL BACK TO 877-287-0863 THAT THIS IS A COUNTY PROCESS SERVER BUT WHEN YOU CALL BACK IT IS NOT

the person that call me and said that this is a processer and that it was a court matter to to cal 877 287 0863. This person had the nerve to block their number.  I think that this is a debt collector. Telling people that they are going to have to go to court. one had the nerve to call and tell me that this was my account and i do have debts but this one was not mine. He argued with me when I knew that I was not living in this state when this debt was made. Be ware they do harass you until you just about have a heart attack.

They called my sister...freaking her out about a summons. I am home all day, disabled and not working. I would think a "Summons" would be delivered to you at your home?

I am so thankful for all these posts! I decided to contact NYS attorney general who is now handling this for me. I filed a complaint with them, as I received a call from a Melissa advising it was a verbal notification before being served with a summons, advising me I owe for a pay day loan from that I received over a year ago.She said I was going to get served with a summons and be arrested for check fraud and other charges if I didn't set up payment arrangement..and I was in no position to set the terms!  The phn #'s 1-877-287-0344 and 1-877-287-0863
I then read all these reviews online about this company.  I also had asked this group-Johnson Walker for copy of original loan documents and received a return call from Melissa who left me message,  advising me "they obviously don't have the loan documents". Another contact was Lisa Davis. Now I can tell them-this matter has been turned over to the NYS Attorney General's office for handling.

I received a disturbing message today stating to call back 1-877-287-0863 from Amber from blocked # stating she received a fax this morning 11/9/11 requesting my name be put on a schedule for service of paper work. She was privately hire to locate my where about and deliver the summons and obtain a signature, If I am contesting the matter please contact 1-877-287-0863 please refer case file#205202 and this a verbal notification quoted by Amber. I call back the listed telephone number spoke with Lisa who inform me that she a Mediator hire by Cash Jar to collect on a payday advance loan back 8/2010. She was very aggressive with stating she did not care about what my previous arrangements I ask her can she send me something via mail to confirm amounts. She stated she does not have to. I inform her I was making $50.00 monthly payments balance that I have is $650.00.. She told me the account accrued interest and I owed amount $1600. I stated I don't have this kind of money and can she work out a payment arrange...She was asking for $953.12 as soon as 11/11/11. I stated this sudden and I don't have this kind of money off hand. She offer a friends and family program where I can borrow money from a friend/ family member. I advised I don't have these options available. I ask if the balance were reduced. She put me on hold for about 10 minutes and stated she will settle for $700 and took my debit card to secure payment. I did owe the balance to Cash Jar but lost income from being layoff and communicate with them and the rest is history. I am happy that this issue was resolved and after the call I did explain to Lisa where I was angry with this was sudden call no letter went out and also I apologized to her for yelling. But, she must understand a letter would have been professional as oppose to a voicemail to friends and me!!

I received a call from that number just a few moments ago here at WORK.  the call came up as restricted on both my cell and work phones...some chick named "Miley" said that I was being served at work to go to court, or something weird like that...the number she gave was 877-287-0863 with a reference number of 205444...

These guys called my friends and family stating they were going to summons me.  I had taken a pay day loan from Cash Jar in 2009 and paid it back.  I have never heard anything since.  I called them back and they told me that I needed pay $450 right now or I will go to court.  I told them I will have to do it Monday.  I spent all day Friday and early today getting all the info that I had that I paid the debt already.  I called the FL attorney general who is aware of the CTS Group scam that is going around.  They say they are mediation but really they are only a collection agency that uses scare tactics.  They refuse to give ANY information about their company and only say they can only give out a PO Box number.  Which btw the representative didn't even know he had to put me on hold for five minutes to get that.  I informed them of my rights under the Fair Credit acts that they need to prove to me I owe this debt- their response was that I have had stuff sent to me throughout the years.  No I haven't because I PAID this debt.  I then went on to explain to him that CashJar is not even licensed in the state of Florida so how can they take me to court or sue me?  He asked me to send him any information I had regarding the debt being paid LOL.  I told them that they can sue me and I will provide it to the judge.  They also had my address but were calling family members and friends telling them that I was being charged with a crime and that they needed to find me.  Which I informed them that that is defamation of character being that they had all the info to reach me and that I am not being charged with a crime.  The BO Box number they gave me a PO BOX 1028 Hamburg NY 14075 and the phone number he gave me was 877.257.1537 ext 309  His name as Eric.

Bottom line if these jokers call you know your rights.  Ask for something in writing that is your RIGHT!!! I already paid them I wonder how many people these scam artists get to double pay them.

My son in-law recieved a call from a 877-489-7626 number.He said that he wanted to contact me as he was from a collection company called CTS. He told my son in-law that I would be recieving a summons.I also know that he contacted my work saying the same thing. Who is CTS?

Cashjar is illegal in most states.  You need to find out if they are illegal in your state.  They are a company in Belize, Columbia.  They can't take you to court!

i had then call my dad and ex wife last week in the same day day they gave me the number 866-211-7251 and they called me back and told me to call a new number 866-674-2970, i called tehm today and didnt say who i was or give them any info as to who i was but they knew who i was and what my number was, my ex wife said the guy was named Mason Stone

There are legal requirements for serving a summons. A phone call isn't one of them. Sometimes a certified letter is acceptable. Otherwise they must be served by the sheriff's department of a licensed process server.

I just got a robo-call saying my charge card was charged $699.99 for 1 year of MS tech support. I am supposed to call to cancel it. That's a new one.  I'm too busy to call them back. But I'll keep a list of Hindu curse 2words handy if they call back.
