Sketchy bill collector, wouldn't identify themselves or "supposed" debt they say I owe. Referred to me by a name I haven't used since 1994 when I divorced.

They called old numbers saying allegations were filed against me

Time sensitive information, Former complaint that was filed against me.... Call has been logged and submitted as proof that I was officially notified.

Voice mail saying:
"Good afternoon this is a message for demands the immediate attention from Mr. xxxx, file number txxxxxx. My name is Daffy Duck, attempting to contact Mr. xxxxx, in reference to time sensitive documents regarding a complaint that may be registered against him. To discuss these pending actions Mr. xxxx must contact the firm that is control of this matter. They can be reached at the number 877-294-7755. Please note that failure to correspond will result in the department to proceed to take further actions with or without consent. Please know this call has been logged as proved that you have in fact been notified of this matter."

They called asking for a person by name that is not me. Just in case these scammers track what names they use for different calls i have removed the calling person's name and the file number.

The voice message really does scream "SCAM" and i am annoyed that boiler room operation is finding gullible individuals that are feeding these trolls. The scammer's reference of "department" that is ambiguously threatening was an interesting touch.  It was obvious that the caller was reading from a script that they were not experienced using. The accent was generic americana.

A person will call and say a random name and that they are trying to contact you because there are legal documents you need to sign and be served with. They will say that they have came to your house  twice and you either were not home or did not open the door. They will say that two police officers will be coming to hand you your paper work. They will then give you this number 877-294-7755 and tell you to call it for further information.  They person will also give you a random “file number” something like “DA2015224”.
This is a scam.
1. They will call you on a private number and will not tell you the name of their office and it’s location.
2. They will not tell you what county or district this so called legal case is at.
3. When you ask them for what dates they showed up to your house they will not give it, nor will they give you your address (don’t give them your correct address, they are fishing for information).
4. When you ask what the legal paperwork is for they will not tell you and say that it’s sealed and so on and so forth. That they don’t know.
5. When I called this 877 number back no one answered, it rang for a few rings and then disconnected. When I googled this number I found lots of complaints of this sort.
6. I called my county court and the state, and gave them this “file number” and they pulled up nothing. My state doesn’t have cases starting with these letters.
7. I was given a fake business name “ T&F Firm” and a name of “Michael Preston” for contacts. I googled it, nothing. All legitimate businesses have verifiable addresses and numbers.

Do not give these people information, unfortunately they will call people you know. I was told that they probably get this information from social media sites and 3 rd party businesses. This is just my PSA.

Received a call from a third party that they would deliver legal docs today. I hung up

She called back and told me "you dont have to be rude to me. I'm just doing my job!"
I should have said then you need a new job!
Hung up again.

Then another lady called from the "actual" firm and I let it go to voicemail. She provided me with the firm's number and my case number.
