    Got a call from a California number about an old credit card account from 2011. The man said he was "retained by the company" and would "be filing suit" sometime next week. Additional details will only be provided to my lawyer in discovery in court, and not sooner but I can settle today to avoid legal and court fees in four payments. The company he says he’s from is East River Management. I googled the address and  it’s a virtual office in Alpharetta GA.
    The account is long past the statute of limitations in my state for them to sue me on. So they are not legally allowed to threaten me with a lawsuit since they cannot move forward on it. Also, if they are not licensed in your state, they cannot sue you.
