Call from this number, wanting to talk to my husband, but it's my phone number.  Would only say to have him call the number.  Would not give any further information as to who this was except to say this is G Capital, no name or anything else.  Kind of fishy to me.

Got a call saying thy were processing my credit application. I haven't sent any credit applications, period.

Got a call from this number on a Saturday-she referred to me by my maiden name- I could hardly understand her accent, she said it was in regards to my credit application ( I have not applied for any credit).

This phone number called saying the same thing as above. Except they also left a message knowing details about a fraudulent application for a credit card. Reported it to the police who are handling my files. I'm so sick of the scammers.

It was a call from Synchrony Bank.  They left a message to call regarding an application that I had submitted.  When I called back it was an automated system that asked for a SS# or Application ID#.  I put in my SS#, a lady answered and asked how she could help, I told her I was returning a call/message regarding an application (which I did fill out on line for Lumber Liquidators - was not instantly approved-which I thought meant denied).  She asked for me to verify my address and my D.O.B then sent a text code to my cell phone to verify it was me calling.  Within a few seconds I received the text code, I read it back to her and she said "okay, you're approved" and then gave me the account number over the phone and said it was available for immediate use.  I had PRIOR to filling out the online application for Lumber Liquidators, filled out an online application for Floor Décor (I wanted to do the tile at Floor Décor and the wood floors at Lumber Liquidators using their 24 months free financing).  Synchrony approved the Floor Décor immediately and put a "hold" on the Lumber Liquidators because the applications came in back to back.  It was nothing more than a security feature.  I was approved for both.  It was a legitimate phone number from Synchrony Bank.

Called and gave his name and G capital about an application . I never made one with them. He talked to fast and had foreign accent. I could barely understand him. Came up on caller ID as unknown , tried to 88 the number on my voicemail but would not go through. He gave me this number on my voice mail.

I have received a letter from  Synchrony Bank, PO box 965033, Orlando FL 32896,
... Unable to approve your instant credit request.... call 877 317-5546,  when you call they ask for your name SSN... it is a fraud,  I never applied nor ever heard of synchrony bank.

Considering it was a letter you received that had this number and not a caller from this number, its most likely about something you (or someone) applied for to get credit. Many businesses use various 3rd party financial companies that are with Synchrony Bank.  GE Capitol, Sam's Club Credit   for example.
Scammers don't send mail to you and give out a legitimate businesses number for you to call if its a scam, since you won't be reaching them. You should at least look up the legitimate number for Synchrony Bank and check to see if someone did try opening credit, if you did not.

Remember, scammers spoof legitimate numbers to fool you into giving them personal info, but they don't ask you to call back to that legitimate number. Always call from a reputable legitimate number if you decide to call to find out.

Received a letter from"Synchrony Bank" saying they declined a recent application for a credit card with Levin furniture. They listed this number to call. I did not apply for any account.

I have now received a second letter, the first was a year ago, containing this phone number and apparently sent from Synchrony Bank in Orlando Florida some 2000 miles from my home.  I see that it has already been addressed here to prove to me that it is a fake.

The letter claims that they are refusing my request for a credit card because the credit reporting service refused the application.  I did not request it.  My credit score had a freeze on it.  Interestingly enough, the letter has my full name and address including some syntax that is highly restricted from public use.

I just looked up the phone number of Synchrony Bank and of course it is a different number.The web site looks impressive. I may(or may not) call them in the morning to see if they are aware of this.

I got a letter in the mail saying credit wasn't approved because of unverifiable information. It gave this number to call, but there is no caller id for this number. I never applied for this and when I looked up this number, others say it is a scam number. The letter I get in the mail looks very official though, but I will call Synchrony next week to find out what is going on. I think it's a scam.

Same experience as Steve (above). Received a letter, supposedly from Synchrony Bank, saying my request for "instant credit" was denied because of "unverifiable application information." Googled the number supposedly for Synchrony and came up with these reports of scam calls.

Letter supposedly from Synchrony Bank requesting I call this number to verify my identity for Rooms to Go credit ap.  Never requested this and have not shopped there.  Total scam.  I am reporting to Synchrony bank and police.
