Scam claiming to be with bge

calling from 914-266-6538, claiming there is a notice with the bge account, asking to call 877-329-8170 immediately with the bge paper bill. this is the second time she left the same message.

Same thing here. Called twice and left message to call 877-329-8170 about notice on our BGE bill. At best it may be trying to sell you on another energy provider.

BGE would not ask you to call back "immediately."  So likely a telemarketer for an alternative energy provider.
Also, the caler ID said "Jean Youmans" from a 914 area code (New York).

Message claiming to be from BG&E about "recent statement received by mail" . The thing is....BG&E is not my utility provider, so there are no statements that anyone from that company should be calling me about.

I also received this message, for the second time. At 3:28 pm, on Friday May 25th. From what I can tell, it's the identical message, from the previous day. Including the background noise (others talking). So it must be a pre-recorded message, used to call up multiple numbers. BGE would never do that about your account. It does sound like she's reading a prepared script. But It took me a second time, to work out that the return call's last 4 numbers were "8170". I think it's her New York speak, on the "8" that was the problem.

Left a message stating to call immediately with my paper bge bill. I do receive a paper bill.  This message was from Abigail

Abigail called (# id as 914-570-6519) demanding immediate call back re: BGE bill notice mailed recently. Call came in on Memorial day - national holiday- which is not BGE style, and of course there is no notice.  She said to call 877-329-8170 immediately.  Scam/fraud!!!!!

I just got the same call. I call the coller id number back and it said the number or code entered is incorrect.  I called the 877 number and they couldnt tell me why they called unless i gave them the number off my paper bill. I get all my stuff electronically. I said it sounds like a scam and she sounded offended. Oh well not giving them any info. Bge will contact me via email if its important.

Scam she wouldnt tell me the name of her company. Just that they offer multiple programs with bge and other companies.

They called and said they were BGE and left me two messages to call immediately with my paper statement in front of me...I tried to call but the number is no longer in service.  It appears the scam has caught up to them, at least for now.
