A different number has called (631-386-1100) several times and left a message for me to call the 877-338-1212 number.  It is ALWAYS "cut off" at the beginning and starts with "call us about your account at..."  The fact that they have called several times and the first part of the automated message is always cut off the same way seems shady to me.

This number did not show up on my caller ID.  The call came from 610-386-1100 and left a voice mail began with a recording that said, "hello, please wait for an important business call" and then followed with insanely psychotic music.  Then a woman came on, "hello? .... Hello?  This message is for [my real name] I'm calling from Petro Oil regarding the account.  Please return my call at 877-338-1212.  We're available M-F 8AM - 8:30PM and Sat from 8AM - 1PM.  Thank you."

I called the 877 number and the first time I got ".....for calling please hold..."   Seemed shady.  

I came online to research and called the # again - actually got a human.  It actually seems legit from Petro, even though everything up to the point of getting a human was incredibly shady.  Unless they are scammers who stole all of Petro's records it seemed legit.  I didn't provide any info that is not publicly available and they knew about my account.  They were calling to square up our balance b/c we are not renewing and they want their money.

Add the shadiness of the voice mails & return number recording as another reason I'm glad we're not continuing with them!

I don't know the calling number, but my experience was the same as anonymous and skipper, with the cut off beginning and the 'my account" as the reason for the call, to call 877 338-1212, supposedly from Petro.   However the actual Petro company is Petro Heating and Air Conditioning, and it hasn't been Petro Oil for at least ten years.  I called Petro Heating and went through all the normal messages and holds, finally got to a human who had no record of 877 3381212 being one of their numbers. I intend  to follow up as I too am nearing the end of my yearly contract and have had excellent service from Petro H & A for fifteen years.  

1-877-338-1212  was a call from petro home services (oil, heating, etc)

Left a message saying they were Petro Oil calling about our account. Since we use a different oil company, I decided to call and was told I have a past due balance of $1083. I used the balance from my real oil company telling them I own $XXX dollars. This confused the caller and asked me what I purchased. I hung up then.

I just got a call from this number and they literally just listened to me say Hello 5 times. I joked and said,do you like listening to me breathe? 🥴
