- LKAnswering machine picked up this number, they did leave a partial recorded message threatening legal action if they didn't hear from me today, they also left a case number. They do not identify the company or what they want and I don't catch a name but that may be because the recording is talking to my answering machine which is saying we aren't available. They don't even realize they aren't taking to anyone,
I called the number about 5:30 and asked for a name, address and phone number so I could have my lawyer contact them. The woman who answered couldn't tell me who they were trying to reach. I said I've had dozens of threatening messages over the last few weeks and I've had it with the harassing calls. She told me 'we just got this file today so it wasn't us.' I told her that may be but we've had several calls a week citing a case number a digit different from phone numbers that are a digit or two different than their call.
I'm sure after awhile they just buy a new number and begin making random calls again. She said again that she can't do anything to help me...again I asked for a point of contact, phone number and address of the company calling. She then told me she removed our number. I'm now waiting to see if they will really stop calling, at least from this number.
We had two other calls this weekend purporting to be collecting a debt, those numbers I could find on this site. The number that called today was not yet posted here. Both of the weekend calls differed by a digit or two and gave 'case numbers' that were also a digit or two different. I have to think they've just picked up a new number and will use this one for a few weeks--but I hope not at my house!- Call type: Debt collector
- WCSame deal as LK. The thing about this is, it can't be a legitimate collection company. I used to do collections myself. You can't threaten a "consumer" or be deceptive in language. That's immediately a 1k fine, under FDCA rules. This would be the reason why the company wouldn't give you further contact details. I also imagine - if I felt like looking into this number and found out where they're routing it from, they'd only have a PO Box as a mail address.

- LKLK with an update: The same place called again this afternoon so their promise to take the number off the list obviously was a lie. Same story, they call at 4:03 and say I MUST return the call by the end of the day. As everyone says, I'm so tired of these kinds of calls. I'll bet we don't get 4 legitimate calls a week on the landline but we get 40 or 50 calls like this or asking for donations to places we've never heard of before.
