- Terrie| 1 replyI also received a call from a local number 425-523-9963 (REPEATEDLY) with a recording saying they were Bradford, Stevens and associates and they had a legal matter in which to speak with me about and to call 866-216-9794. I have called them before to tell them to take my number off their calling list but they keep calling so this time I called and told them if they called me again, I would report to whatever agency I can make reports too and that their "collection" practices are illegal. The man who answered stated this wasn't about a collection matter and to do whatever I felt I needed to do. They then turned around and called me again with the recording. I am filing with the BBB and whomever else I can as I have NO unpaid bills... nothing on my credit... nothing in the mail saying I owe anything... SCAM... and I am getting tired of it!!!!!!!

- BigA replies to TerrieThis is a criminal enterprise pretending to be debt collectors, even though they try to deny it. The BBB is the most useless, worthless agency on the planet. Following is what you should already know about debt collection and where to report crooks like this.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
