Repeated - daily calls from a recorded female voice that only responds to the word "Hello". The caller ID usually says Toll Free Call. Today it called twice within 10 minutes.  The voice says "Do not hang up this is a public service call...." at that point I always hang up.

Today I called the number back and *67 to block my telephone number. The call was answered by an auto system which transferred me to a human being that answered the call "Customer Service". The company is called ZIPWEB I told them to take me off of the call list and she said that it would take 72 hours. If I hear any more from them my next stop is the FTC.

Anyone who asks for "the owner or manager of the business" gets an immediate "I'm sorry, that person is not available right now."

This company keeps calling my office from their overseas call center.  Of course they don't want to leave a message but will just try back later.  I wish I thought faster on my feet to be more direct.

Always answer these types of calls - they have to pay for completed call.  Keep them talking as long as possible with fake info so they have to pay more.

Just called my office asking to speak to owner or manager.  I told her that would be me.  She said that my business is going to be the featured business next month for google & yahoo, she just wanted to verify my info.  Sounds much like the yellow pages online listing calls that I used to get.  I told her I was not interested and hung up.

    This is  E-Bridge,
you can call the number, speak with a rep,
have your number(s) removed from the call list.

    takes 72 hrs,
but they wont call you anymore.

amazing, that you keep picking up a call,
if you see the caller i.d, and it's the same number- maybe let it ring- let the machine pick up.
or do what I've done- when I have way too much time to kill at work,
Start telling them how much you like something- like- for instance, I started with shoes.
    I said ,
I love shoes- High heels- loafers-slips ons,
I like blue, but also like white , but black is best :)
I love my Manny Blancs...u know...
I love flip flops in the summer I went on for about 4 minutes................  they just sat there in silence- anticipating another shoe style or color.
    They stopped calling me..
maybe cause I asked them too., Maybe cause they think I'm nutz :)

    Both are correct.lol

Good luck to all you poor B******d's.

I'm so tired of these people calling.  Today I said I was the Manager and 'Ross' said he was calling from Access Local...internet advertizing for $99.95 per Month!  Said I wasn't interested and hung up.

I receive calls several times a day.  However, no one ever says anything.   If we are on a "Do Not Call List", how can they keep calling and getting away with it.  I have received calls from these yo yo's for the
last time.  Next time, I'm going to say hello and lay the phone down.

We've been getting calls from this number asking for the owner or manager. The owner doesn't take calls from places like this so we ask if we can take a message. The answer is always the same: no, we will try later. I finally got tired of it and called the number. The lady on the other end answered "Customer Service" and I proceeded to tell her to take our number off their list. She said ok, took our number, asked what 877 number i called to reach her and then she said it will take up to 72 hours. I hope she'sright because I am keeping track!

A woman with a thick asian accent called asking for the manager or owner.  I put her on "indefinite hold" and she sat there for probably 15 minutes!  Definitely a new record.  Finally had to transfer her call to the "junk call voicemail" because she just would not hang up and I got tired of having to hit the hold button every couple of minutes...  What a nuisance!

As someone who once worked for E-Bridge aka ZipWeb (Hi Eric and Don!) I can honestly say that the business is a scam through and through and I feel terrible that I ever applied for their office in Encino (you can probably find them still looking for gullible people via craigslist under customer service & encino) thinking that this was a legitimate company.

First off, I was a customer service rep whose main job was to receive calls from disgruntled people who had been magically been billed to their home phones and were looking for a refund. We had meetings every week about different ways to politely tell the customer that they weren't getting a refund while trying to keep them on as customers. We got reprimanded if the customer complained enough to their respective phone companies.

Secondly, my job entailed setting people up for their listings on Zipweb.com. Besides the fact that zipweb.com is nothing more than a "skin" of Google maps with ABSOLUTELY no functionality of it's own, basically a fake search engine they tell you will help bolster your sales, is a lie at best. There were times people would call in and ask where their listings were found and I was instructed to "pretend to look it up and then tell them that there was an internal error that prevented the listing from going live and the listing should be up within 72 hours". This of course was to frustrate the customer more and hopefully enough that they'll say "forget it" and leave it alone.

The simple truth of it all is that ZipWeb and E-Bridge are full out frauds that are taking people's money. For what? It could be one of the owner's son's coke habit or the lavish trips overseas but whatever it was, I caught on about 4 months in that there was no legitimacy here and it was about time to leave. Lucky me they fired me not too long after because I "asked too many questions" and had a sense of morality about myself.

Here's the real kicker--the majority of the ZipWeb, E-Bridge and USABD customers DON'T EVEN KNOW that they ARE customers--and are partly to blame for not checking their phone bills thoroughly enough. On the same floor as the call center is a QA department whose job is to screen the initial calls made to the customers that sign them up for the "service". Yes, the calls are from overseas in a Phillipine call center and the wording in the script is built to make the customer pay attention to the agent's accent and miss the dialog.

If you want to do something about this crappy company taking your money for nothing, here's what you do:

    1. Lodge a complaint with the BBB in your state. (ZipWeb is spending money and time to clean up their image there--too many complaints and the BBB will give them a "bad" rating)

    2. Lodge a complaint with your phone company. And get others to do the same. whether they are E-Bridge customers or not) Every complaint makes it easier for the phone company to stop doing business with them. There are several phone companies that don't do business with E-Bridge anymore so it is quite possible.

    3. Write letters and set up a petition to send to your Attorney General. Enough heat will call forth an investigation; it'd be even better if people from different states came together and made a "chain" effect that couldn't be ignored.

    4. Tip off your local newspaper and television station. This would be a very interesting story for a station to get wind of--especially with all the documentation from past and present "satisfied customers".

    5. Write E-Bridge directly.
Let them know how good a job their doing by sending letters to their corporate office in Encino, CA. Address them to Don or Eric when you do and use as colorful a language as you can.

    Here's the address:
    16133 Ventura Blvd. #855
    Encino, CA 91436

Thanks! This is very good advice. I get multiple calls daily and even though I use my "Easy Hang Up" button that tells the caller that my number does not take this type of call and to remove my number from their list.  They have persisted for at least 3 or 4 months. What's the deal? Why would they continue to call numbers persistently for months that have always told them to remove numbers from their lists? I just don't get it.
