I've been using my phone number for over a month. This number started to call. They leave messages asking to call back, saying it's a time sensitive matter. No company name, no reason for the call are mentioned.

    i'm tired of these calls
877-372-5114 calls every once in a while and they seem to be looking for someone named "Terry Douglas". This "company" had been trying to track down this person for YEARS!!!
My friends used to get calls from this 'company' just about 3 YEARS AGO. Apparently they can't seem to find "Terry Douglas". He has unpaid phone bills. My advice (call your phone company and report this number asap).

    CCA collection agency
The phone number 877-372-5114 is a collection agency called CCA and they work for ATT, previous known as CINGULAR. However someone hassling you and not properly identifying themselves, you are protected and you have legal options. CCA is supposed to stand for Consumer Collection Agency.

I get the same message but they are looking for "jennifer sanford".  I called the number back that they gave and used the reference number, then they asked me if I knew how to get a hold of that person.  if they worked for at&t they should know who's phone their calling.  I asked the person I spoke to the first time to remove me from their calling list.  Then I asked then a 2nd time when they called, the woman the second time got rude when I asked what the business name was and a mailing address.  she said she would remove me from the list, I told her I had asked that last time I called.  Seems like the don't get the idea that I'm not jennifer and don't know who this jennifer person is.  The woman I spoke with wouldn't give me her name.  I'm going to post complaint at www.donotcall.gov because I am registered there.

Funny thing, someone says they work for ATT -  I asked the caller to identify herself and she said 'Lisa Smith,' but she wouldn't say who she was from - absolutely refused and got really obnoxious on me when I pointed out that by law she had to tell me who she was calling for (she just kept saying that it was a call 'on behalf of my client').   She gave me the last four digits of someone else's SSN (some foreign name like kawabumbabozinaga, lol) and said my phone number was listed in their records as his 'contact number.'  Well, I'd sure like to know how *that* happened!  I pull credit reports regularly (three free ones/year) - just did one in February and it looked fine - but with so much identity theft around I don't feel safe.  However, she got really obnoxious when I kept asking her who her client was so we got nowhere, with her threatening repeated calls and telling me she knew what the law was.  I didn't mention anything about being in the DoNotCall for the past 5 years and yet she aggressively brought it up first, telling me that it didn't matter, her client wasn't subject to DoNotCall and wasn't a telemarketer so wasn't subject to telemarketer laws.  When I star69'd and called the number back the woman answering said what I*thought* sounded like CCI (I said, 'CCI?' and she didn't correct me) but she wouldn't tell me what it stood for, then she said, 'it's just CCA, like ATT.'  So I said, 'CCA?' and she wouldn't answer anything more, just asked if I wanted to be connected to a rep or something like that.  At the time I thought she meant, 'it's initials and everyone should know it' (like, who remembers that ATT was something like American Telephone & Telegraph, anyway? it's always ATT).  So at least I had a 'client name.' Now her statement has a different meaning.  Sheesh.

    I FINALLY HAVE ANSWERS!!!!

Ok folks.  I've been researching this ALL DAY.  Here's my story. First, let me say that we have NO outstanding bills.  I have been getting the automated calls, (for MONTHS) to call back at this #.  "Time-sensitive matter...blah blah." Well, the name is not mine.  The account is not mine. Same first name, same town but NOT ME!

I have spoken to an actual person 4 times, telling them I am not the person they are looking for, nor do I know her.  They always say they will take me off the list, and are VERY rude, and tight lipped about any information I ask for.  But they Keep Calling!!!  After gathering as much info as I could (from the automated calls telling me reference #'s) I decide the next time they call, I'm going to straighten it out for good. Sure enough, they call back, (they always do...) and I call the darned # and give them the "reference #" they left. I ask the lady who she works for.  "CCA."  I ask what that stands for.  "Nothing," she says. (!!!)  She won't tell me.  I ask her name, won't tell me.  She ends up hanging up on me.  This morning I call AT&T a second time.  I tell them "CCA" has been hounding me  for an outstanding balance that is not mine.  I had called to find out if CCA was a scam (one call wouldn't give me a person, it just asked for my CREDIT CARD #!!!) No, AT&T uses them for collections, they are not a scam, and they are called "Collection Company of America." From googling "CCA collections" and clicking on the "Who's calling me" sites, I realize there is a TON of this going on.  From MANY different 800/877 numbers.  And they are pissing me off.  After digging (really deep, they are hard to find...) here is their website.

    http://www.collectioncompanyofamerica.com/CCA_About_Us.aspx

With a page on their "telecommunications" work and the name and email of the VP of National Client Development.

    http://www.collectioncompanyofamerica.com/Telecom.html

    A quote from their website:

"It's not just collecting debt; it's collecting in a manner that best represents our clients while achieving superior performance levels."
    Candice O'Brien, VP of Operations

I am going to write a letter to their CEO, and anyone else who will listen, AND I am going to file a complaint with AT&T.   I have been a loyal customer for too long to have them outsource someone to harass me for a debt that isn't mine, and be yelled at, not responded to, and hung up on.  I hope you guys do, too.

I get calls at my WORK number from 877-372-5114 "Toll Free Call" constantly. They are calling about an AT&T bill I am disputing.  I told them this is a work number, NOT a residence but they haven't stopped calling.  I work for a law firm and have reported the harassment so that my firm will handle the business interference from this nuisance of a company.

Everyone should file a complaint with their State Attorney General's office.  They will have to take action.  I don't have an address yet, but the AG office should be able to find it if you file a complaint.  Go online and email a complaint.  It's free and simple!

Interesting!!!  I just closed my AT&T account and the harassing calls from CCA started shortly after.  What are the chances CCA is an abusive arm of the old monopoly.

I received a call from 877-372-5114 today. A robocall. UGH. This is to a new cell phone that no one has the number to. I call the number back and get a lady named Laurie or Laura. She says it is EISCCA (?). I say "I want to know why you are calling my phone?" She hangs up on me and when I try to call back I get the message "Sorry, this number is blocked from your calling area."

Rude. This is why getting a new number is such a pain. People cycle through these cell phone numbers like there is no tomorrow. When debt collectors trace them they toss the phone and then new people get the calls and they NEVER STOP. You can tell them to stop, you can write letters, etc but they never, ever stop. They don't stay on the phone long enough to collect information to sue them or anything.

It has got to stop. I use my cell for work and these annoying trolls waste MY time and money. Either pay your bills or tell your stupid bill collectors your new phone numbers. And bill collectors - get a freaking clue. If someone says that person is not there then they are either going to lie to you and you won't be able to contact them or they really aren't there. STOP harassing people!
