It isn't a phone call in my case.  It's an email.  They are saying they are linked to Microsoft and that your security suite needs to be updated....please call this number if you think this is an error.....  So, I assume when you call, they try to convince you they are legit and scam you out of money.  BE  SUSPICIOUS!  I use Windows Defender for free or with Comcast internet I get Norton for free.

Same EMAIL scam as you folks but I get great pleasure in scamming the scammer so I called the number.  It answers immediately with a recording that says "Thank you for your patience" goes to brief music and then starts ringing.  Answers but nobody there.  Damn, I wanted to have some fun with them.

I received an email with this number in it to call to cancel. The email came from Microsoft Security <tamannasofia42@gmail.com> and stated "This E-mail confirms that your computer support is about to expire. Your subscription for Computer Support & Security will be auto renewed in the next few days and the details are mentioned below. You may reach us at @8773732393 Mon-Sat 10:30 AM + 04:30PM CST for any query with this order." It also said to call the number if I felt any error in this order, It gave an order number, said the product was Pro Defender Security for the amount $336.73, and payment method of Auto Debit. I googled the phone number and came across a lot of sites stating this number is a scamm, and others have been affected to. I am glad I looked it up. Please be aware.

    B Folks
I got a similar email (not phone call) re: some unidentified subscription expiring. They had a bogus "Microsoft Security" icon in their header, too, (so I thought it might be my antivirus software expiring--it actually is about two months from dying on an old computer that I no longer use, so I was concerned).  But their gmail address looked too suspect (random series of letters/numbers: yuamsuwieorieuryeu128372@gmail.com), the grammar was clumsy, lacked any specifics as to device, account, renewal situtation. Looked unprofessional. I called the number and got a bogus recording.  All, keep your eye on your credit card invoices just in case these guys have information gleaned from hacking into "recurring renewals"  files.
