Caller left a message stating I was mailed legal documents. Left a case # and said they would proceed with legal action without me if I didn't respond. I don't know how they got my home #. They even contacted my daughter and an old friend both who live in a different state about this matter. On top of it all the address they said they sent the documents to was not my address. So, of course I never received anything from them. Total scam. Watch out..do not engage them in any way.

Call came in as an unknown with no number. Gave a case number and what county it was coming from and the name of a law firm saying that papers were mailed out to me. Said they would proceed with legal action if I didn't respond. They asked for me by my ex last name and then by the name I go by now. I have not received anything in the mail from them.  I think it is a scam.

I received a call on 12-09-2020 from a caller named Abby at Benson & Associates giving me a case number 566128. She left me a voicemail since my phone identified her unknown call as a spam risk and said that I needed to call her back with that case number because I was involved in a civil complaint. I have no clue what she meant by that since I am not involved in any legal matters nor have I ever been involved in one. Please be aware and warn your relatives not to give these individuals any information because it easy to slip out. The caller sounded aggressive and can make a soft-hearted person believe it is real, so I wanted to leave this information here so that people do not believe them. It's all a hoax.

Caller left a voicemail stating there was a criminal complaint against me from the county. They were calling on behalf of Benson and Associates. I called them back, they were wanting me to give them my information & I would not verify, the rude guy hung up on me. I think this is a scam.

He called and left a message and I called back. They were trying to collect a debt from 2008. They said they will file in court on Monday unless I paid them $1500. It seems like they are accessing any public information  and using it against people. Then when I questioned her she tried to get angry with me. The nerve!
She told me they have already sent me paperwork but will send it again. It is a scam ladies and gentlemen. The scary part is they had the last four of my social security number...

    Calling on the dead-SCAM
I received a message and so did my husband on his deceased grandfather...Who does this?  Saying that we were down as contact and that we need him to get ahold of them or they would file against him. Gave a case # too. Not sure what the scam is all about, but I figure since Papaw died 20 years ago...You can't be sure that it's a SCAM!

    Debt Extortion Scammers

The vague scare tactic message is designed to panic a victim into calling back.

Most debt collectors will use a certain amount of pressure to convince you to pay the debt. After all, they often don't get paid unless you pay. Be suspicious of a debt collector who uses an unusual amount of pressure to get you to pay immediately, particularly if they also use scare tactics to get you to pay right away. For example, a debt collector is scamming you if it :
    • threatens you with a lawsuit and tells that you can avoid the lawsuit by paying right away
    • Says a Process Server  or Courier is coming with papers to sign
    • Threatens to call / go to your place of employment
    • Insists you have been notified, served or are non-compliant via phone message(s)
    • Refuses to give a company name or verifiable Contact source
    • Refuses to send proof of debt via US mail

A sure sign of a debt collection scam is a collector that wants to you to pay via wire transfer or another method that can't be traced. If the payment method can't be traced, you'll have a harder time getting the authorities involved.

If the creditor sounds completely foreign, or you know you never had an account with that business, there's a chance it's a scam. Never pay a collection you don't recognize. You have the right to request written proof of the debt from the debt collector before you send payment.
