- Confused| 1 replySomeone by the name of Jamie called a relative of mine and was told that I needed to call this number. I have no idea what this is about and do not call people that I do not know. He did not say the name of the company or what the issue was about...
- BigA replies to ConfusedSounds like it might be a debt collection extortion scam. They like to call family to create panic and embarrassment. This one must be new at it though.

- SiskoSame situation I got a call from a 503-207-2071 number they said they had paper work to give me and if I was available the following day to receive them I said yes. I then asked what the papers are about then she said wait I'll give you a number to call they will tell you more information.I then talked to a Tami ward she said an old account needed to be paid $1600 was the amount but they will settle for $649 one time payment I then started to ask questions like send me a paper stating my debt and information of why they are trying to contact me she said they are only allowed to do that once in the end she sent me an email that says Tracy Pierce docusign. I read online they install malware this way so I never opened it. I recommend to not do anything this person says if they say you a account money investigate it it's well worth the your time.

- BrianThe person called and said they had a message for Brian or anyone that can get him the message (Without even asking for me). *Bad sign #1*.. She then said please give him a message for him to call and gave me a reference number. She said "it was in reference to legal documentation from Montgomery County in Dayton Ohio." The number on my phone was a local number so I asked why a 877 number and if she was in Dayton herself. She said yes and when I started to asked her about the streets and landmarks in Dayton that EVERYONE HERE KNOWS She didnt have answers for me. She said well please call that number and they need a good address to send legal paperwork to me. I said well my address hasnt changed in 9 years so they have it and can send a cert. letter. You are a scam arent you. She then said No sir, I work for a contact company that Montgomery count hired. When I told her I was a County Deputy for Montgomery County she hung up. I of course passed this on the coworkers who handle fraud.
- JannCaller called my sister's cell which no one really knows the number said I needed to call right away referenced a document number needed to inquire about. Saying they were from Albany county if this was real the papers would have been sent certified mail by now. So sick of these people every 6-8 months same thing just different method of contact and all different types of supposed debt or arrest warrants. Wish they would just all get sent to hell where they would be the recipients of non stop calls. Paybacks a [***]!!

- NathanSame scenario as everyone above. Alleged debt is waaay past the 6 year Washington State statute of limitations. They said they weren't trying to collect the debt from US Bank but were advising me that they were going to red flag my social security number. I told them they have no legal recourse and that any action brought against me will be met with legal action.

- paidmydebt| 3 replies7 years ago, a payroll check bounced causing several checks I wrote to bounce. I paid them all - and the additional fees each place charged - but my bank USBank charged me over $300 in fees. I called and spoke with a customer service rep who said they would allow me ten days to pay the fees but if not paid in that time would send to a collection agency. A week later (not sure how or why they did not honor the 10 days) I get a letter from a collection agency in Florida (I live and worked and banked in Wisconsin) and with much sacrifice I was able to send them the $300+ payment. Never heard from them again so I thought it was all done and over with. Last week I get a call from someone at a "paralegal firm" attempting to prevent this matter from going to court. I explained I had paid this but then they asked for a "clearance letter" and I had no idea what that was. I said I could try to find the copy of the money order I sent and he said that was not enough "proof of evidence" that I had paid the debt and the only "proof of evidence" that a court would accept was a "clearance letter" from where I sent the payment. It was seven years ago. I have lived at the same address for more than 15 years, my phone number has been the same for over 10 years - if the payment was lost in the mail you would think I would have heard about it by now or received a follow up notice from the collection agency in Florida. I checked my credit report (two out of three TransUnion and Equifax) and this supposedly outstanding debt is not on either report. Does this sound like a scam? They asked me to pay via a link they emailed to me, but when I looked up the money transfer website in the link they provided there were many, many poor reviews. I have worked very hard to repair my credit after that terrible ordeal with my paycheck bouncing at a time I was living paycheck to paycheck with nothing to spare. My children and I ate very little and survived on the generosity of friends for several months until I found another job that paid in checks that were actually good. But we did it and things are good now. Do I risk a HUGE ding in my credit IF that collection payment was not received 7 years ago? You'd think I would have gotten another letter the next month if they had not received it, right? I am sorry I am so stupid in these matters, but I am scared. I worked so hard and my children did without so I could pay my debt, even though my former employer NEVER made good on the money they owed me. I appreciate any feedback, thank you.

- Yoda1725 replies to paidmydebt| 2 repliesMake them prove that you owe the debt. It is incumbent upon them to send you a validation letter via US Mail. Any other method is not valid.
- paidmydebt replies to Yoda1725| 1 replyThank you!
- paidmydebt replies to paidmydebtOdd thing - they just now called again. I asked them to mail something in writing to my address, the address I've lived at all along and he said they already did that but now they would be sending a notice to my county courthouse. I read something about this where "debt purchasers" will file for a judgement without sending anything to the person so that they do not appear in court and automatically are found liable. I also looked up the statute of limitations on debt collection in Wisconsin and the website indicated it was six years. All this is making my heart pound (and my head) - I am worried that I will not have proof and will end up paying the $3,000+ he indicated in his first phone call.
- Anne replies to annoyed| 1 replyThe very same woman called my brother, when I called her back with the reference number and I thought that this was a scam and told her so. She then went and Google searched me and found my public medical license and threatened too tarnish my career. These people are scam artists. I asked for their address the name of their company and a supervisors number and she wouldn't give me any of it. All she said is that they operated out of Las Vegas Nevada. Don't believe these people
- BigA replies to AnneFollowing are links where you can report them. Nevada requires a collector's license.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

And I'm slowly pulling apart their little scam. I called her 4 or 5 times , first she claimed to be Jodi Ward. Then Jessica Moore. Then "Chloe." All the same voice. I have the phone calls recorded and I'm taking them to the police along with a lot of other information I dug up on her and her little scam.
