I received this call on February 5, 20013 on my Google Voice Mail. It stated: "Information on an important matter. System filed interoffice us. Contact us today at toll free at (877) 381-5756. I had already made payment arrangements to clear up debt from a previous attorney;s office in regards to a Pay Day Loan back in 2008. I called the toll free number and a lady answered the phone but did not identify or greet with the company name. I decided to Google the toll free number and glad I did. It allowed me to see the above messages from other recipients to this number. I will not furnish any information to this number but will report it to our AG's Office.
I will further seek the statues of limitations for debt collectors in the state of Arizona.
Thank you all for the previous messages and heads up.

The only scammers are the people borrowing the money and not re-paying it!!!!!!!! Stop taking out loans if you can not afford it!!!!! It's not their fault you have bad morals and can't accept consequences for your actions, hence, why there are so many collection agencies out there and growing!! FYI: Try reading the fine print before you actually agree to any terms

You are wrong. Most of the people receiving these calls have never borrowed money. This is a well-known scam (especially to you, eh? Wink, wink) that tries to intimidate people into paying money they don't owe.

Perhaps it's best to clarify for newcomers (and web searchers who come across this site) how this scam works.

Most likely we've all received spam emails that claim "There is a problem with your Bank of America" account (or "Citibank" or some other large financial institution) and shrugged them off because we don't even have an account at the bank mentioned. The spammers send out the exact same message to millions of people knowing that 99% won't have an account at that bank... but also knowing that 1% *will*. They're hoping that their email will be convincing to some of the random recipients who happen to have an account at the right bank.

The fake loan collection calls work the same way: Most reach random people like you and me but the scammers know that just by the laws of probability a small percentage of their calls will reach a person who really does owe money to someone. Their threats and bullying tactics can seem frightening if the recipient mistakenly assumes "I owe money - these must be the people I owe money to! How else would they know?"

The illiterate ALL CAPS morons like "Anonymous" who post the "Pay your debt!" rants here aren't trying to convince any of us who *don't* have debts, they're just trying to create a frightening atmosphere for the ones who do. The hope is that when such people get a call and search for the phone number and end up at this web site they'll be shamed into paying... even if the money goes to a random crook instead of the real creditor.

I had a payday loan with Mycashnow from 2011. I contacted Mycashnow and they gave me a number to the company who they sold the debt to. When I contacted them, they gave me Avrs # to call to pay the debt. When I contacted AVRS, they were actually polite and professional. They emailed me a letter within moments and I did pay the bill. I had no issues with the company.

well you wrong here is the web link for this company's page http://www.avrsgroup.com/index.html they are out of New York, but they do buy old unpaid payday loans for 10% of what the loan was for (EX if you had a $500  payday loan this company paid $50 for it) Now in my state if you have not paid it from the due date, they can not collect it, also any all payday loan companies must be licensed by the PA state banking commission to do business in this state.

They call here often.  The first time I was worried and researched my bank accounts.  I went into the bank and pulled statements from over 6 months ago.  I called the company they claimed I owed money too and they had no record of an unpaid bill.  I gathered all paperwork, contacts, dates, and called them back.  I had the operator so flustered.  After wasting her time and speaking to several supervisors - I finally came unglued.  I told them I know its a scam and the conversation has been recorded from the beginning.  I'm sending a copy of the tape to the FBI and then......they hung up on me.  LOL  I still get calls from them but ERASE them immediately.

Most Payday loans require an automatic payback plan.  You can't get the loan without setting up the payback plan.

They told me if I can prove it then I need to send them proof! I have contacted DTA Group and if they do not correct this error I will be calling my lawyer!

These ppl whomever they are keep calliing my number trying to scare me by telling me they are going to have the police come to my work and file me with papers for a loan I supposedly took out 4 years ago. threatening to put me in jail, etc. I've googled the phone numbers 512-562-0060 and the number they said to call back 877-381-5756 which are scam artists. They called me three days in a row. The first day I called my financial institution and they told me DO NOT GIVE THESE PPL any of your information or your debit card number. I've also been told my gmail account has been tried to be hacked by serveral different places in the U.S.

Your situation sounds EXACTLY like mine.  I got a letter in the mail from a company approximately three years ago saying I owed about $1500.  I don't take out loans so I immediately called to find out what the heck was going on.  Someone had used ALL of my personal information, name, DOB, SSN, phone number, and address and taken out three online payday loans in my name.  The only information that was incorrect was employment, e-mail address and
Two references listed.  I have never in my life taken out a payday loan.  I immediately told them it was identity theft, put fraud alerts on my accounts, filed identity theft complaint with the FTC and local police department.  I've sent letters to each of the companies I've been contacted by.  After the last one where the guy basically called me a liar, said they had tracked the loan to my IP address (total attempt at intimidation and BS which might have worked if I didn't know for a fact
Tht I never took out such a loan) and said there would be a warrant for my arrest, I ignore the calls.  Hoping it will go away at some point, but none of it has ever been put on my credit report, thank goodness.  Let someone try and drag me to court.  I will pay every penny I have to a lawyer before I pay it towards a fraudulent loan.  My credit report is pristine, my FICO is above 800, I make over six figures and have a good amount in savings.  I have never been delinquent on any loans.  Anyone with half a brain could see I don't need a payday loan and if I did take one out, why woul that be the loan I all of a sudden decide to default in?  Stupid.

Seriously?  Not everyone being contacted by these people owes any money at all.  Ever hear of identity theft?
