- DDY| 1 replyI got the message today from a lady Named Brenda WILLIAMS Who Claimed To Be The Locater And Gave me This Number And Said i Have One Chance To Contact The Agency And Pay. I Thought It Was A Scam

- Jeffery LegreeReceived a call from a person named Kathy Nibbons. She told me that if I do not call this number (800-386-3941) that someone was going to come down to my workplace. This is not the first or second time I received a call from referring to this number. They have called my brother and sisters. Right now I am being represented by someone who is handling this. I have called this number once and told them that I was being represented by this company. I gave them the phone number of the company representing me. They are still calling me.
- Caller: Union Group
- Call type: Debt collector
- richSomeone just called me stating that she was some sort of locator. She asked me if I knew my wife. she then proceeded to tell me my was in serious trouble and that she needed to call 877-386-3941 before papers were filed.
I asked here how she got my number and she told me she got it from a government data base. I told her it sounded like some sort of scam as we have no outstanding debt or issues. I asked her who she was representing and she kept giving me the run around. She made it seam as though it was some sort of criminal matter.
I again asked her who she worked for and she claimed to be a private contractor. I continued to press her for information and she hurriedly said that my wife had now been officially served and hung up. - Caller IDI received a call from this number several times, they leave messages and call themselves the firm. They gave me a docket No., but they do not say who they are. I can't this, if a business does not relay who they are or who they work for. Not sure what this place is but "the firm" is not going to work. I beleive this is some debt collection agency but I am not sure for what? I filed bankruptcy a while ago so I am not sure why I am getting these phone calls.

- The Duck| 3 repliesWhile browsing, I got a pop up message that said that a virus had invaded my computer and all systems had been halted to protect my privacy. It said I should call Microsoft Customer Service at this number immediately. Sounds like the collection goons are branching out to computer stuff. No way I'm calling that number cause I'll start getting calls like the other folks have.

- Slim replies to The DuckThere are several reasons for seeing a "blue screen of death" or a sudden virus warning on one's computer.
Some are valid, and many may be caused by downloading malware, or visiting an infected site.
If you see the message ONLY with your browser,
-- google "browser hijack", and try some of the solutions seen there.
If you see the message pretty much all the time,
-- download the anti-malware program from malwarebytes.com (or another legitimate site)
-- run it
-- Make sure you check the boxes that say "PUPs" (Potentially Unwanted Programs)
If none of that works, you may have to visit your local computer repair shop, or restore your system from a backup created before you saw the "virus warning". - Chelle replies to The DuckThat is exactly what happened to me. Wouldnt allow me to access anything in that particular internet browser. Went to my programs and uninstalled some stuff I found and it went away. I did call that number for shiggles and it was just hold music. Hopefully I dont get phone calls from these a**holes bc I already get calls from "medical compensation"... *rolls eyes* this stuff never ends.
- same here replies to The DuckWhile browsing, I got a pop up that said a virus had "invaded my C:/Windows/System32/dll folder and to contact Microsoft Certified Live Support at 1-877-386-3941 immediately "
(Instead, I decided to search that phone number and found this page!) - bdzThis number was in a pop up from a Swagbucks/Ecrave page claiming that an intrusion had been detected in my C;Windows/System32.dll folder and telling me to phone Microsoft Certified Live Support for instructions.
I have not had a problem in general with Swagbucks. I am sure the problem is a hack in their system also.
Since my computer is NOT a windows machine and since this number came up in the 800 notes search and since the official microsoft page warns against this sort of thing and has a very different contact phone number - it is obviously a fraud. I am taking the time to warn others.- Caller: "Microsoft Certified Live Support??
- SB userI see I'm not the only one. I too was on Swagbucks and got the pop up message that froze Safari, but not my Microsoft programs. It read:
"Windows defender have detected an intrusion in your C:/Windows/System32/dll folder, All attempts to block this intrusion have failed as your antivirus application is not able to quarantine this threat, All system resources are halted to protect you from Identity theft and any loss of personal information. Please contact Microsoft Certified Live Support at 1-877-386-3941. (Toll Free)"
I know people can copy logos so I called Apple to see if they knew if it was legit. I was told it was a Trojan horse and they see this sort of thing all the time. They then had me quit Safari and restart it and it went away.
I had opened two offers on the home page before going back to familiar Encrave offers when it opened. The home page offers were for Bookperk and Abuse Stops Now. The Encrave offer I was working was one of the two 4 SB offers. I've since been working the same Encrave offers with no problems. - marshaI got a call from an "investigator" saying I have to call this # or someone is coming to my job to serve me.
- Lou Lou| 1 replyI received a call telling me that on Monday I would be served at my place of employment between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. When I asked them why they were calling and what is the name of the company, the man started shouting and hung up the phone!

- Alethia Rivera| 1 replyCalls from an Anthony 877-386-3941 x505 referring case #686804 for A. Burgan, which is not my name. When asked to remove my number, he became nasty and started saying that I need to let my husband know....blah blah blah. I am not married to A. Burgan. I will pursue this to the end. They will not continue to harrass me especially over something that has NOTHING to do with me.

- JoeyDee replies to Alethia RiveraUnderstand that they might continue to harass you because they are criminal scammers. This type of scam is well known, widely perpetrated and well documented in many, many threads on this site.
Your number was probably dialed randomly, and it's possible it will come up again in the scammers' queue, since you answered and had a dialog with the crook.
Your best bet is your own defense, in the form of a call blocker for the number. Aside from that, you can always stop answering when calls come in from this number, but don't waste time or effort, and certainly not money on an attorney, because, simply put, it's a scam and they are probably impossible to locate in India or Pakistan, where they're calling from. - MIR replies to DDYwas it not a scam?
- mel replies to Lou Louwas this real or fake then?
- TOTALLLLLY IRRITATEDThis is totally a scam/COS. They called my home # searching for my mother, etc. etc. etc. Docket # blah blah blah....
Please call back to verify party to put a stop to the case, etc. etc. The information they have can all be found on the internet. They would not call you ............ they would serve you with papers and the call wouldn't come from a toll free number........it would be within you county area code. If you are still worried about a case against you, go to your county clerk of courts website and search for your name under the various types of court filings. Hmmmmmmm, bet you aren't gonna find anything, especially since we all probably have the same file number. SMH..........GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!- Caller: PITA!!!!!!
- AnnoyedI also received 2 calls from this # stating he was Marshall Garrett from legal services & being served in 2 days unless I do a stop order by calling. Gave an index # & at the end of call stated good luck! I have been advised it is a scam they are looking for your ss# & to just ignore.
