- Suspicious from Mississauga| 2 repliesI got a call asking for my name, I was not available so he left a message that his name was Lambert and he called from a Collection Agency.
I suspect this is a scam as I paid all my bills properly and should we owe something usually we would receive some notices in writing before Collection Agency is used.
Please investigate, withdraw this phone number and fine the perpetrators.- Caller: CBV Collection Agency
- Call type: Debt collector
- Resident47 replies to Suspicious from MississaugaThe caller may be skip tracing for someone else, which would obviate mail to you. If there is a debt claim naming you, the typical behavior is that collectors start the call campaign the same day the dunning letter is sent. Not exactly fair, but not illegal.
No one contributing to a mystery call site is going to "investigate", "withdraw", or "fine" anything for you personally. It's your job to defend your rights. Learn them at FTC-dot-gov. - send themsend them a debt validation letter, dont admit anything in the letter.
make sure you add dont call me, all commuincation via mail only.
Send it via certified mail with return receipt.

Calls my cell at least twice a day every day.- Caller: Citi
- John DoughThe "Lambert" name is still being used as of February 5, 2014. Asking for personal information when the person they are asking for is not there. When asked to provide what personal information they have so that it could be verified, they didn't want to continue the call. Obviously phishing for personal information for identity theft. Don't tell them anything or better yet don't answer calls from this number.

- i khoI recieved several voice mails from this number lasting for several minutes but no one spoke. They started calling after I closed my Best Buy Card. When I attemted to call reached a automated voice mail sating there was no one available and to call again. Not sure but I think it may be Best Buy's or Citi Banks service to collect unpaid balances. Very unprofesional to call several times at odd hours on the holiday and weekend and leave blank messages.
- Caller: never stated
- LindaThis collection agency collects for almost every major corporation and government. If you are positive that you have no outstanding accounts, you can call them and prove that you are not who they are looking for and they will remove your number from that specific collection file.
They were calling our cell phone multiple times a day. However, it was a previous owner they were looking for. Instead of answering the call on our cell phone and using air time, I called head office from my land line. They transferred me to the correct branch and then it took a couple of transfers to various departments before I reached a manager in one of the departments who located the file our telephone number was attached to and she removed it. Each department collects for a different corporation/government agency/ etc. So if your number does not appear in one ask to be transferred to another and keep track of which departments you speak to until you find the right one. Or if you answer the call, you may be able to clear it up much faster.
End result is that you are able to get them to stop calling if you do not owe them any money.- Caller: Collection Agency
