I just got the same call telling me the same story. I think they are calling from india.

this is a scam company and when you call to address them they curse you out

I am in plantation FL and I received this message twice  in two days from 877-403-6251 saying his name is Barry Cooper and is calling from the lRS legal audit department and needs me to call right away. If I don't respond there will be legal consequences against me. This person has a thick Indian accent .  So from reading the other posts I take it - this is a scam.

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.
