This number called me twice yesterday with my wrong name assuming i had a court case filed against me & told me to call another number. I haven’t received anything in the mail or had any officer come to me about court so i looked up the number & found out its a total scam. Theyll ask you to pay them in money or giftcards to pay ur part

The fake process server/location finder extortion SCAM usually consists of the following:

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency. They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). They threaten to serve you at home or at work. They tell you that if they serve you at work then they will need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work. They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID. None of which is true. Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else. They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”. Court documents are time sensitive and must be served within a certain amount of time. Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there really is a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter, email, or text (postmarked in the case of a letter) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. Unless they have communicated it to you verbally at the beginning of your conversation. It also must contain the “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this communication must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that communication you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

Called threatening to sue me. Had all my information all the way down to my debt card number. Continuously called my family and anyone associated with me. Never gave a company name.

Left the following message:  This is Adam Mason contacting you regarding documents that were issued out to our office for delivery.  You have been granted an opportunity  to contact our office to obtain the file details that number is 877-415-0678 referencing file number 38821-#### failure to contact their office will resolve in a voluntary decision being registered on you behalf.  You've now been notified..

SCAM:  First; Wrong name, second; the last comment - 'You've now been notified'...  By law, you can't be notified by a phone call of a law suit.  You MUST be notified in writing.
Checked the local courthouse in my jurisdication - no cases found.

They called my sister and my niece with a case number 38788-####. Saying they had legal documents and that I have been notified. The first red flag was that they contacted my sister and niece. They gave the phone number 877 415 0678 and the first time I called it, some guy just said hello. The second time, a different person called and they said "Capital Services". I asked this guy if a legitimate case was filed against me and a pending judgment was going to be delivered, then why hasn't it been hand delivered by a sheriff? He then said "are you going to [***], or do you need my help? Yeah, scam...

I’ve continuously gotten calls from this number and they call as No Caller ID and unknown. They’ve called my family and given a case number saying legal documents have been delivered or will be delivered but that’s untrue. No documents have ever been delivered to me or anyone else. I never left any emergency contacts. Every time I call back, it’s someone different and they can’t tell me any details. I was scared at first and fell for it but now I believe it’s a scam after seeing all of these comments on here.

Has called me multiple times, threatening to sue me for various things. Called my workplace which is a SUICIDE HOTLINE.

This number keep calling decided to call
back 877-415-0678 keep saying they from Capital service will not tell me any details until I go at them personal number. But they keep saying I will be served when I refused to give personal information they hang up

Transcript from my phone:"This call is regarding legal documents that were filed against you and scheduled for delivery. We're now giving notice to serve the documents at the place of employment when the state record search comes back or last known residence. If you need to specify the delivery location, or have questions, you will need to contact the plaintiff office directly." They gave the name of someone I've never heard of, and the phone number came up as "Anonymous". SCAM!!

called my place of employment saying that i was being sued and gave me an ref# to be severed and that i need to contact them but wouldn't give me any information regarding the issuse hung up and called my phone # with blocked number

These people called my ex-husband's ex-wife, whom I never met. They called my ex-husband too, referred to him as my emergency contact and even gave me his address (all information that can be googled). Same message as all the above: " This is Thomas Watts, contacting (my name) I'm calling to inform you that the documents regarding the USB account will be sent to the residence of your emergency contact at (his address) if you prefer the documents to be received elsewhere you will need to contact the plaintiffs office directly at 877-415-0678, case number 397657****."
